Nowadays it's possible for people to buy many products or pay for treatments that help them to look younger.

Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

In modern days, it is easy for individuals to purchase products or spend a money on the treatments for look younger. I think this is a bad thing. Because it is costly and it is not a natural.

On the one hand, everyone cannot afford the expenses, as people know that these are expensive treatments and products. Because someone belongs to middle class family, they cannot pay that much amount of money. For instance, people get influenced by enterprenuers or celebrities, as they use expensive treatments and products on their skin. But it is not suitable for everyone.

On the other hand, someone's skin is allergic or acne prone. They avoid to use high fragrance or un-natural products. Because they used to wash their face with neem soap. It depends on body to body, how their body will react to this product. Firstly, read reviews or ingridents.

In the conclusion, In modern era, people can buy products or can spend money on the treatments for look younger. But it is not suitable for everyone. We can use any product

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You give a clear opinion that this is a bad thing and offer relevant reasons: the cost may exclude middle-income people, and products may cause problems for people with sensitive or acne-prone skin. The examples about celebrities influencing consumers and using neem soap help make the topic specific. However, the response addresses the question only partially because the reasons are brief and not fully explained, and the conclusion ends with the incomplete idea “We can use any product.” The advice to read reviews or ingredients is also not clearly connected to your position. The response is 71 words below the required minimum, so there is not enough development to support your argument. Extend each reason with explanation and a relevant example, and finish with a clear concluding judgement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

Your response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs beginning “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. This makes the main points identifiable. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and some linking is mechanical or confusing. For example, “Because someone belongs to middle class family” is separated from the preceding sentence even though it gives a reason, while “Firstly, read reviews or ingridents” appears abruptly and does not clearly follow from the skin-sensitivity point. The conclusion repeats the introduction and then stops at “We can use any product.” To improve, connect each explanation directly to its main point, use fewer formulaic transitions, and ensure the final paragraph completes the argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “treatments,” “celebrities,” “acne prone,” and “fragrance.” Some choices are imprecise or unnatural, however, and spelling errors are noticeable: “enterprenuers,” “ingridents,” and “un-natural.” Phrases such as “spend a money,” “for look younger,” and “that much amount of money” also show limited control of natural collocations and word forms. These issues sometimes make the reader pause, although your central meaning remains understandable. Build a more accurate range by learning common phrases such as “spend money on cosmetic treatments,” “look younger,” and “afford the cost,” and check spelling carefully before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences, including “For instance, people get influenced by enterprenuers or celebrities, as they use expensive treatments and products on their skin,” but the response relies mainly on simple structures and several attempts at complex sentences are faulty. Examples include the sentence fragments “Because it is costly and it is not a natural” and “Because someone belongs to middle class family,” as well as “They avoid to use,” where the verb pattern is incorrect. Articles and sentence construction also need attention in “spend a money” and “In the conclusion, In modern era.” These errors can interrupt the flow of reading. Practise joining reasons to complete main clauses and review articles, verb patterns, and sentence boundaries.
