Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
In modern time, there are lots of skin care products or treatments are available for people who want to look younger. Although I believe there are several benefits, it has some major consequences which will be discussed in the upcoming paragraphs.
To begin with, applying anti-agent products and treatments can improve confidence and self esteem. As people grow older there skin will loosen or get wrinkles which will affect there confidence level. For instance, using sunscreen and moisturizers can protect the skin and help people maintain a healthy appearance. Furthermore, some of the fields require attractive people such as actors or cabin crew, if people look older then their career will be suffered. Therefore, using skin care treatments will not only build confidence but also increase the career span.
On the other hand, focus on looking younger can create several problems. Firstly, some cosmetic treatments are extremely expensive, which may encourage people to spend excessive money. For example, skin treatments are usually done by specialists and products are also expensive, so they charge huge amount of money which people spend and affects their finances. Apart from this, some treatments or cosmetics are not suitable for all body types, when people use it without knowledge then it will worse the case. So, skin care needs specialists which will affect their budget, if doing itself would not good for their health.
To conclude, I believe that using cosmetics will improve skins and beauty which enhance the confidence level and career growth. However, products and doctors are expensive which will overrun their budget and sometimes not good for their skin which can cause several problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the question and give a clear overall view: appearance-related products can support confidence and careers, but cost and unsuitable treatments can cause problems. The examples of sunscreen and moisturisers, and of people in acting or cabin-crew roles, make the benefits relevant. However, the position is not fully consistent: the introduction says there are benefits but that the issue has “major consequences,” while the conclusion mainly endorses cosmetics before adding reservations. Some points also need fuller explanation. For example, the claim that appearance can affect career prospects is broad, and the health risks of unsuitable treatments are mentioned without a specific example or explanation. Develop these ideas and state more precisely whether you consider the trend good or bad overall.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for benefits and drawbacks, and a conclusion. The progression from confidence and employment to cost and possible harm is easy to follow, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” help readers navigate the argument. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and also shows some stronger control through paragraphing and logical sequencing. However, linking is sometimes mechanical, and the final paragraph does not clearly resolve the balance between the two sides. Some connections within the drawbacks paragraph are also abrupt, particularly the move from expense to suitability and then to the need for specialists. Use clearer references and transitions to show how each point relates to your overall judgement.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “anti-agent products,” “self esteem,” “cosmetic treatments,” and “finances.” There are also attempts to use more specific language, such as “career span” and “body types.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “anti-agent” should be “anti-ageing,” “skin will loosen” is better expressed as “skin may sag,” and “worse the case” is not idiomatic. Repetition of “skin,” “products,” and “expensive” also narrows the range. Aim to use more natural collocations and vary repeated terms, while checking spelling and word forms such as “self-esteem” and “moisturisers.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in the opening and clauses introduced by “which,” “when,” and “if.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “there are lots of skin care products or treatments are available” combines two sentence patterns; “there skin” and “their confidence” show confusion between possessive forms; and “it will worse the case” has an incorrect verb construction. There are also problems with articles and agreement in phrases such as “charge huge amount” and “using cosmetics will improve skins.” Practise building accurate complex sentences and check pronouns, articles, and subject–verb agreement before submitting.
