Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is an ongoing trend in individuals in which people spend money on multiple products and treatments that help them to look younger. I believe that this is a negative trend because prolonged use of these products leads to various health issues and unnecessary spending causes less saving habits in individuals.

Firstly, over use of beauty products causes skin problems and other health issues. Compared to the past, nowadays many individuals are relying heavily on beauty products and treatments available on the market. Many products are containing harmful ingredients that can create negative effects on human body. However, many people are buying these products based on ads on social media platforms, in which they simply discard the effect of harmful ingredients. For instance, many people buy a product when it promoted by an influencer. As result, using these products for a long period creates various skin problem such as skin itching, irritation. When people use multiple products that are promoted by different influencers for a long period, they might end up with more issues like skin cancer.

Secondly, over spending on beauty enhancing methods leads to poor saving habits. Nowadays. beauty treatments are quite popular in every country, which needs a significant amount of money. Since social media are a part of a persons' every day life, individuals easily get influvenced by these treatments as most companies promote it on online platforms. Consequently, individuals start to spend significant amount of money regardless of their earnings. For example, nowadays many women spend money on lip fillers as it is considered as a factor for beauty. Eventually , these habits lead to poor saving habits and individual may struggle during financial difficulties.

To conclude, although using beauty enhancing prdocts help people to boost their confidence as they feel it help them look younger, using multiple products witout checking the ingredients causes various skin and health issues. Since beauty treatments are very costly, spending money on these treatments create financial difficulties and poor saving habits.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you consider the trend negative because of possible health effects and reduced saving. Both reasons are relevant, and the examples of influencer-promoted products and lip fillers help connect the discussion to current behaviour. The conclusion also acknowledges a possible benefit—greater confidence—before restating your view. However, the health argument is more developed than the financial one, and claims such as prolonged use potentially causing skin cancer need careful qualification or stronger support. The point about confidence appears only at the end rather than being explored. To strengthen the response, explain the mechanisms behind each consequence and develop the examples more specifically, while maintaining a clear distinction between unsafe products and treatments used under professional guidance.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. The progression from health concerns to financial consequences is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “To conclude” make the organisation explicit. This provides a coherent framework, though some linking is mechanical and ideas within sentences are occasionally joined awkwardly. For example, the first body paragraph moves from social-media advertising to harmful ingredients and then to possible skin cancer without fully explaining the links. The repeated use of “Nowadays” also makes transitions less varied. Improve cohesion by using clearer cause-and-effect links and pronouns with precise references, and by connecting each example directly to the claim it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “harmful ingredients,” “skin irritation,” “saving habits,” and “financial difficulties.” These choices make the main ideas understandable, and phrases such as “beauty-enhancing methods” show an attempt to use more formal language. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or repetitive: “less saving habits” is unnatural, “beauty products” recurs frequently, and “influenced by these treatments” does not express the intended idea as precisely as “persuaded to try them.” There are also spelling errors, including “influvenced,” “prdocts,” and “witout,” which reduce accuracy. Build precision by learning common collocations and checking spelling, and vary repeated terms with suitable alternatives such as “cosmetic products” or “anti-ageing treatments.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including a reason clause in “I believe that this is a negative trend because…” and a conditional construction beginning “When people use multiple products…”. Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make sentences awkward. Examples include “many products are containing” (use “contain”), “on human body” (use “on the human body”), and “a persons’ every day life” (use “a person’s everyday life”). There are also agreement and article problems in “social media are a part” and “individual may struggle,” as well as punctuation issues around sentence breaks and commas. Review verb forms, singular/plural agreement, articles, and possessives, then proofread each sentence for a complete and correctly punctuated structure.
