Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response identifies the topic and begins to present both sides, mentioning confidence and possible health risks. However, it does not answer whether this trend is good or bad: there is no clear position, and the discussion stops after an unfinished example (“skin care products that helps to impr…”). The ideas are therefore only minimally addressed and are not explained or supported with a complete example. The response also falls substantially short of the required 250 words, leaving the task incomplete. To improve, state your view clearly in the introduction, develop relevant reasons in separate paragraphs, and finish with a conclusion that directly answers the question.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is an initial attempt to organise the response: the opening introduces contrasting views, and “Firstly” signals the start of a supporting point. These markers give the reader some indication of direction. However, the response ends during its first body paragraph, so there is no developed progression, conclusion, or complete paragraph structure. Some linking is also mechanical, as in “In upcoming paragraphs we will discuss about both aspects,” which announces a plan rather than advancing the argument. Build a clear sequence of introduction, developed body paragraphs, and conclusion, and use linking phrases to show how each reason relates to your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses some topic-related vocabulary, including “products,” “treatments,” “physical appearance,” “confident,” and “aging effects,” so the subject is generally recognisable. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “particular amount of money,” “look youthfull appearance,” and “totally wastage of money.” Spelling is also inaccurate in “youthfull,” and the vocabulary range remains narrow because the response is very brief and repeats ideas about looking young. Aim for precise, natural collocations such as “spend money on anti-ageing products” and “a waste of money,” and use a wider range of relevant terms to explain benefits and risks.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

There is an attempt to use more than simple statements, including a relative clause in “products that helps them…” and a reason clause beginning “Because many people feel confident.” However, control is inconsistent: “many people spending” lacks a finite verb, “products that helps” has subject–verb disagreement, and “Because…” is left as a sentence fragment. The construction “when their physical appearance is look young” is also faulty, while “discuss about” shows an incorrect grammatical pattern. These errors make parts of the response difficult to follow. Practise complete sentence structures, agreement, and verb forms, then check each sentence for a clear subject and finite verb.
