Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir,
I have received your email in which you have requested me for my honest feedback. I have recently used your company to shift my furniture and other households to my new residence.
To be honest, I am really grateful for the reliable services you have provided me without any damage. I really appreciate the efforts of your team for being extra conscious about all the valuables, especially the dinner sets were packed with high quality material to avoid any cracks. It was my first experience with your company and everything went really well.
I would like to appreciate one your employee who had organised everything in a professional way to avoid any mishap, Additionally he made a list and ensure to verify the items are handed over safely which was a very helpful. However, one thing which needs your attention is the delay in arrival which caused me a little trouble, the team reached at the apartment at 7:30 which was quite late than my given time, I want you to consider this issue to make your services even better.
Yours Faithfully,
John Ellen.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly explained what went well, specifically mentioning the careful packing of valuables. You also praised a specific employee for their organizational skills and identified the delay in arrival as the negative aspect of the service. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of feedback. To reach a higher band, ensure that the development of ideas is slightly more balanced; for instance, the negative aspect could be expanded with a suggestion on how to prevent such delays in the future to show a more sophisticated level of engagement with the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a logical progression, moving from the purpose of the letter to positive feedback, then to the specific employee, and finally to the complaint. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate these distinct ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'To be honest', 'Additionally', and 'However' to link your thoughts. However, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that the transition between sentences is smoother. Some sentences, such as the one regarding the employee, are slightly run-on and would benefit from better punctuation or conjunctions to improve readability.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task. Phrases like 'extra conscious', 'professional way', and 'mishap' are used correctly. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'shift my furniture' (better: 'move my furniture') and 'quite late than my given time' (better: 'later than the scheduled time'). To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the flexibility and sophistication required for the higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'requested me for my honest feedback' (should be 'requested my honest feedback') and 'ensure to verify' (should be 'ensured that he verified'). Additionally, there are some punctuation issues, such as comma splices in the final paragraph. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage will help improve your accuracy.
