Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir,
I am writing to express my feedback about how your company helped me in moving my furniture and possessions to my new apartment.
Recently, i saw your company advertisement on a newspapers and i was skeptical whether to use your service. Then, i reached to a friend of mine to confirm if she has used your company for moving her possessions this year. She recommended your service was good.
The day i planned to move to my new house, your company delivery bus and employee came exactly the scheduled time and date which i was very pleased with that.
However, one of your employed named Jack really helped me in arranging and setting up my furniture and possessions. He is kind-hearted, friendly, hardworking and he made sure my apartment was in the right order before he left that day. In addition, he also assisted by cleaning and sweeping of my new apartment which i was grateful for.
Furthermore, i am not pleased with the aspect whereby your company's bus could not contain all my possessions at once and i was informed it takes two days to be able to deliver the remaining ones left. I would advise your company find a way to get bigger bus that deliver your clients belongings at once and efficiently.
I look forward to using your service next time and make adjustments where necessary.
Yours faithfully,
Ogundipe Karimot

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly explain the positive aspects of the move, specifically the punctuality of the team. You also provide a detailed commendation for the employee, Jack, and identify a clear issue regarding the vehicle capacity. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of feedback. To improve, ensure that the opening paragraph is more concise and directly related to the purpose of the letter, as the background information about how you found the company is not strictly necessary for this task. Overall, the response is well-developed and covers all requirements effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized into distinct paragraphs, each focusing on a specific requirement of the task. The use of cohesive devices such as 'However', 'In addition', and 'Furthermore' helps to guide the reader through the text. While the progression of ideas is clear, some of the transitions could be more sophisticated to improve the flow. For instance, the connection between the introduction and the first body paragraph is slightly abrupt. Nevertheless, the paragraphing is sufficient and the overall structure is coherent, making the letter easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'skeptical', 'scheduled', and 'possessions' appropriately. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'cleaning and sweeping of my new apartment' (cleaning and sweeping my new apartment) and 'get bigger bus' (get a larger vehicle). While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Incorporating more precise collocations and a slightly wider variety of descriptive adjectives would enhance the quality of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with articles (e.g., 'on a newspapers', 'at the scheduled time') and subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'one of your employed named Jack'). Additionally, there are consistent issues with capitalization, such as the lowercase 'i' used throughout the text. While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically regarding articles and pronoun capitalization, and try to incorporate more varied complex sentence structures.
