Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I am writing to share my last week experience with your furniture removal organization. Last wednesday I hired you company to assist me to relocate my furniture and possession from my old apartment at queen street to my new apartment at vectoria avenue.
The main thing I want to highlight is your employees deternination and hardworking nature. All four employees with two pickup truck reached at given location on time without any delay. Moreover, they all are very quick in their work. Therefore, with in one hour the load all my furniture and other things in truck after seeing that I get shock, one thing came in my mind, How this is possible?
However, with one thing I am not setisfied is the saftey equipments your employees wear during their job. That equipments are so old and not upto mark to make sure that employees will be safe if any accident happend during the job. So, I thing your organization should invest some money to provide new safety equipment to your staff.
I hope you consider my suggestion.
Your faithfull

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: it explains what went well, praises an employee, and mentions a negative aspect regarding safety equipment. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, the praise for the employee is a bit generic, and the explanation of the negative aspect could be more detailed. However, the purpose of the letter is clear, and the reader is left in no doubt about the writer's intent. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your points with more specific details or examples to demonstrate a more sophisticated level of communication.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, with each paragraph focusing on a specific requirement of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Therefore', and 'However' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel slightly forced. For example, the sentence 'after seeing that I get shock, one thing came in my mind' disrupts the logical progression of the paragraph. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that sentences flow more naturally into one another would help improve your score in this area.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message, but there are several spelling errors ('deternination', 'setisfied', 'saftey', 'faithfull') and some awkward word choices ('upto mark', 'get shock'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they do indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a wider range of precise vocabulary. To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling of common words and try to use more natural collocations, such as 'up to standard' instead of 'upto mark'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include incorrect verb tenses ('reached at given location'), missing articles ('in truck'), and subject-verb agreement errors ('they all are very quick'). While the meaning is generally clear, these errors are noticeable and occur frequently. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly the use of articles and consistent verb tenses. Practicing the difference between simple past and present perfect would also be beneficial for this type of letter.
