Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to express my satisfaction with the service provided by your moving company's staff as they helped to transfer my goods from previous apartment to new one.
On the moving day, the entire team of movers was at my address on the given time. Firstly they wrapped all the furniture in bubble wraps along with other fragile products before shipping to new building. Apart from this they placed all the boxes in designated areas of new house which really helped during unpacking.
Also, I would like to mentioned about one of your employee, Rui Camacho. This person not only helped me during moving stuff but also helped with the after cleaning of my old place.
Lastly, even though the service was excellent but the company charged $350 for five hours, whereas the finalized amount was $250 before I agreed with the team who manages all the financial duties.
In the future, I would definitely recommend your company to all my friends who need help in moving.
Yours faithfully,
Sukhmanpreet Singh

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly explained the positive aspects of the move, such as the punctuality and the careful handling of items. You also effectively praised a specific employee, Rui Camacho, and highlighted a clear issue regarding the discrepancy in the final invoice. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of feedback. To reach a higher band, ensure that the explanation of the negative aspect is slightly more detailed to fully develop the situation, as the transition between the positive and negative points could be smoother.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each point, and a concluding sentence. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Apart from this', 'Also', and 'Lastly' to guide the reader through the text. While these are effective, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that the transition between the praise for the employee and the complaint about the bill is less abrupt. Paragraphing is used correctly to separate distinct ideas, which helps the reader follow your argument easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'designated areas', 'fragile products', and 'financial duties'. However, there are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'after cleaning' (should be 'post-move cleaning') and 'at my address on the given time' (should be 'at the agreed time'). While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the vocabulary from being considered sophisticated. Expanding your range to include more precise collocations related to business correspondence would help improve your score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are several grammatical slips, such as 'I would like to mentioned' (should be 'mention') and 'the team who manages all the financial duties' (which is slightly awkward). Additionally, there are minor issues with articles, such as 'transfer my goods from previous apartment to new one' (should be 'from the previous apartment to the new one'). Despite these errors, the meaning is always clear, and the errors do not significantly interfere with the reader's understanding of your message.
