Student answer (Band 7.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to express my feedback regarding your moving service.
Recently, I booked your moving company 'Nick Movers' to shift my furniture and belongings to my new apartment. As your team is highly skillful, everything went well and according to plan on that day. Despite having numerous steps, your employees moved my fragile stuff carefully and without any damage.
Your whole team was helpful and efficient but I want to praise one of your team members 'Chris'. He helped me alot in packing my stuff as well as to remove my curtains. I appreciate his effort and gave him a tip as well.
However, I was not happy with the size of the moving vehicle because my stuff did not fit in. I clearly mentioned the quantity and size of furniture I wanted to move. Consequently, they had to make two trips to move all the possessions. This is the only issue I faced while using your service.
Thank you for such great service. I hope you team will choose the truck size appropriately next time.
Yours sincerely,
Will Smith

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly explained what went well, specifically mentioning the care taken with fragile items. You also identified a specific employee, 'Chris', and provided a clear, relevant complaint regarding the insufficient size of the moving vehicle. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of feedback, and the purpose of the correspondence is clear from the outset. The ideas are well-developed and relevant to the context of a removal service, meeting all the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph focuses on a distinct aspect of the task, which helps the reader follow your points easily. You use appropriate paragraphing and basic cohesive devices such as 'Consequently', 'However', and 'Despite' to link your sentences and ideas. The flow is natural, and the structure of the letter—from the opening to the closing—is standard and professional. The use of referencing is clear, and there is no confusion regarding the subjects being discussed throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using terms like 'possessions', 'fragile', and 'efficient' appropriately. While the vocabulary is functional and clear, it is somewhat standard. To reach a higher band, you could incorporate more precise collocations or slightly more sophisticated phrasing (e.g., instead of 'stuff', use 'belongings' or 'items'). There are no significant errors in word choice that impede communication, and the tone remains consistent throughout. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your message clearly and professionally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5
Your grammar is generally accurate, and you use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. There are a few minor slips, such as 'I hope you team will choose' (should be 'your team') and 'as well as to remove' (which could be more naturally phrased as 'as well as removing'). However, these errors are infrequent and do not cause any difficulty for the reader. The majority of your sentences are error-free, and your control over punctuation and sentence construction is solid, which is appropriate for this level.
