Student answer (Band 7.5)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing in response to your request for the feedback regarding the removal service you provided when I moved to my new apartment last Sunday.

Overall, I am very pleased with the service. The removal team arrived at the decided time and handeled my furniture as well as all the belongings with care. Despite having to carry heavy items downstairs, they worked effectively. Everything was delivered to my new apartment safely. Moreover, team helped me to position the larger pieces of furnitures.

I would like to praise Harsh, who has done remarkable work. He carefully wrapped all fragile items and repeatedly asking me for my suggestions. He even helped me to pack and unpack those fragile belongings. His professional and positive attitude is greatly appreciated.

However, I was disapointed with the condition of moving van. It was very untidy and dirty. Looked a like it wasn't cleaned before our appoinment.

Nevertheless, I really appreciate the team's hard work and would definitely recommend your compaany to kith and kin in future.

Yours faithfully,

Dhruvi

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0

The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly explained the positive aspects of the move, provided a specific commendation for an employee named Harsh, and identified a clear issue regarding the cleanliness of the moving van. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of feedback, and the purpose is clear from the beginning. The ideas are well-developed and relevant, meeting the requirements of the task fully. No further development was needed to satisfy the prompt's requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.0

The letter is logically organized, with each paragraph focusing on a specific aspect of the task. The use of cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'Despite', 'Moreover', and 'However' helps to guide the reader through the text effectively. The progression of ideas is clear, moving from the general experience to specific praise, then to a complaint, and finally a concluding recommendation. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct topics, ensuring the letter is easy to follow and coherent throughout.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly and appropriately. Phrases like 'professional and positive attitude' and 'kith and kin' show an attempt to use varied language. However, there are some minor spelling errors, such as 'handeled' (handled), 'disapointed' (disappointed), and 'compaany' (company). Additionally, 'furnitures' is an uncountable noun and should simply be 'furniture'. Despite these minor slips, the vocabulary is adequate for the task and does not impede communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. While there are some grammatical errors, such as 'repeatedly asking me' (should be 'repeatedly asked me') and 'Looked a like it wasn't cleaned' (which is a sentence fragment), these do not significantly hinder the reader's understanding. The majority of your sentences are clear and well-constructed. To improve, focus on ensuring consistent verb tenses and avoiding sentence fragments by ensuring every sentence has a clear subject.
