Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter to give you feedback about the moving service of my house last
week.
There are so many things, which I really liked while moving my previous house such as, your company has so many tools for heavy items, big blankets for glasses, and a large moving truck that can carry everything without any worry. Secondly, I would like to give special thank you to your employees, who were there on that day and they worked fantastic. Moreover, everyone was very kind and respectful towards me, which shows good customer relation service.
However, I was not satisfied with few things for example, your team did not arrive on time I waited for almost 2 hours, which represents lack of awareness. Furthermore, while moving to my new apartment the truck was parked on wrong spot, which was not convenient for other people to pass from there. Those things needs be improve for next time.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours faithfully.
Jaimin Padhiyar.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points required by the prompt: explaining what went well, praising an employee, and mentioning a negative aspect. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, when praising the employee, you mention they were 'fantastic' but do not provide a specific example of what they did to be helpful. Similarly, the negative feedback regarding the truck parking could be more detailed. To reach a higher band, ensure you expand on your points with specific examples or justifications to fully develop your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Secondly', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' to link your ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and the transition between sentences could be smoother. For example, the phrase 'Those things needs be improve' at the end of the paragraph is a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the overall flow and coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly, such as 'customer relation service' and 'consideration'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'tools for heavy items' is a bit vague; 'specialized equipment' would be more precise. You also use 'lack of awareness' in a context where 'lack of punctuality' or 'poor time management' would be more appropriate. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more precise terminology related to the topic of moving services.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For example, 'Those things needs be improve' contains errors in subject-verb agreement and passive voice construction. You also have issues with articles and prepositions, such as 'on wrong spot' instead of 'in the wrong spot'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring correct article usage.
