Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter to express my genuine feedbacks for your services for shifting our home appliances and furniture to our new residency.
First of all, I am really grateful to all workers for smooth transition of all parts that have been moved with care and safety. Secondly, I was impressed with your way of packing each and every items using different material and different methods. because of this I can see the end results that all parts have moved without any damages.
I specifically want to thank your team leader mr. John who was not only directing for timely completion of task but also making sure nobody get hurt while lifting heavy objects.
However. I observed some of your equipment especially dollies need to repair because while transferring heavy loads sometimes dollies were not functioning properly. Therefore, I suggests you to do maintenance regularly and keep your equipment up to date.
I hope you will consider my honest response for your future perspectives.
Yours faithfully,
Jay.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly explain what went well, specifically mentioning the careful packing and the safe transition of your items. You also effectively praise a specific employee, Mr. John, and identify a clear issue regarding the maintenance of the dollies. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of feedback. To reach a higher band, ensure that your opening statement is more precise; for example, 'feedbacks' is an uncountable noun and should simply be 'feedback'. Overall, the task is fully addressed with relevant and well-developed ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each point, and a concluding sentence. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Secondly', and 'However' to guide the reader through your points. While the structure is sound, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that paragraph transitions are smoother. The paragraphing is sufficient and appropriate for a formal letter, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'residency', 'transition', and 'maintenance'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and form, such as using 'feedbacks' (uncountable) and 'end results' (redundant). Additionally, 'shifting' is slightly informal in this context; 'relocating' or 'transporting' would be more professional. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, incorporating more precise collocations would elevate your score. The errors present do not impede communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'each and every items' (should be 'item'), 'nobody get hurt' (should be 'got hurt'), and 'I suggests' (should be 'I suggest'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of periods instead of commas, such as in 'However. I observed...'. While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent punctuation in complex sentences.
