Student answer (Band 7.0)

Dear Sir/ Madam,

I hope this email finds you well.

I am writing to share my experience with Uhual moving company and provide feedback regarding the moving services we recently recieved.

The moving process was well organised. I was pretty amazed with thier punctuality and the quality of their service they delivered on the moving day. The staff was very courteous and co-operative through out the day. Also, they worked in teams to ensure they dont do any damage to the property or furniture. In addition, they were fully equipped with all the equipments and the support which they needed to safely move the furniture.

I particularly would like to call out for Jaskiran for his service and the quality of his work. He was not just moving the furniture but was strategically organizing it in the truck so we could accommodate all the furniture in one run to the new location. Furthermore, He was very kind, courteous and a bit shy when talking to us .

However, one aspect of the move with which I was a bit upset was the last part when we were unloading the furniture. The staff was hurrying. Some of the staff members were changes in the middle of the moving and the new members appeared a bit rude and unhelpful. Also, some of the items were damaged by them and they mishandled it just to save the time and get over the task.

I hope that my feedback with be taken into consideration.

Yours faithfully,

Sankalp Diwate.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0

The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly explain the positive aspects of the move, provide specific praise for an employee (Jaskiran), and detail the negative experience during the unloading phase. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of feedback. The ideas are well-developed and the purpose of the letter is clear from the beginning. To reach a higher band, ensure that the transition between the positive and negative aspects is slightly more nuanced, but overall, the task requirements are fully met.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each point, and a closing. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the different stages of your feedback. You use cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Furthermore', and 'However' to link ideas. While the flow is generally smooth, some of the referencing is slightly repetitive, and the connection between sentences could be more varied. Overall, the information is easy to follow and the progression is logical throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Phrases like 'strategically organizing' and 'courteous and co-operative' are effective. However, there are some minor errors in word choice and form, such as 'equipments' (equipment is an uncountable noun) and 'some of the staff members were changes' (should be 'were changed'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication. To improve, focus on the correct usage of uncountable nouns and more sophisticated collocations to describe professional services.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical slips, such as 'they dont do any damage' (tense inconsistency), 'call out for Jaskiran' (preposition error), and 'my feedback with be taken' (typo). Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout. The punctuation is generally accurate, though there are occasional issues with capitalization and spacing. To move to a higher band, aim for greater accuracy in verb tenses and ensure that subject-verb agreement is consistent throughout the letter.
