Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I hope you are doing well. I am writing today to share my experience about your moving service company that I used last week.

Firstly, everything was organised and all workers were follow schedule that we decided. Both of your employer were kind and helpful. To elobrate more, their interact politely with respectful tone which I appriciate the most.

Moreover, they handled my important furniture carefuly which I was worried bit because it is to big and sofesticated but I liked the skill and patience, and you have the best woorkers in your team.

However, I noticed that movers don't have paid break. As a result, they tend to work longer hours without taking single breake so I think you should update some policy in your company. Overall, everything was good.

I hope my advice will be impliment seriously and I will definetly recommend your company whenever I get chance to share your reffrence.

Yours faithfully,

Jane

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The letter addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt: the positive aspects of the move, praise for an employee, and a negative aspect regarding the service. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of feedback. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention the workers were kind, you could have provided a specific example of an action they took to demonstrate this. Similarly, the complaint about the lack of paid breaks is relevant but could be expanded to explain how this affected the service quality. Overall, the task requirements are met, but the content could be more detailed to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter is logically organised into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'However' to transition between ideas. While these are effective, the flow between sentences is sometimes slightly mechanical. For example, the transition between the praise for the workers and the mention of the furniture could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, and the paragraphing is appropriate for a formal letter. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the progression of ideas within paragraphs is more fluid.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly, such as 'organised', 'sophisticated', and 'recommend'. However, there are several spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'elobrate' (elaborate), 'appriciate' (appreciate), 'carefuly' (carefully), 'sofesticated' (sophisticated), 'woorkers' (workers), 'breake' (break), 'impliment' (implemented), and 'reffrence' (reference). These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable, although they do not impede communication. To improve, focus on proofreading your work for common spelling mistakes and try to incorporate more precise collocations to enhance the professional tone of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'all workers were follow schedule' (should be 'followed the schedule'), 'Both of your employer' (should be 'employees'), and 'their interact politely' (should be 'they interacted politely'). Additionally, there are issues with article usage and verb tense consistency. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevent the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tenses will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
