Student answer (Band 7.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to provide my feedback on your company’s moving service. I recently moved from Ottawa to Toronto on Sunday September 2, 2026.
Firstly, the move was smooth and everything was taken care of. The coordination between the packing team and transport team was excellent. They packed my entire furniture and crockery from the kitchen in a couple of hours and packed them professionally in cardboard boxes. I was living on the 11th floor in the building, and moving furniture from the building and loading it in a truck was not an easy task.
Secondly, I would like to mention your employee named as Raj. He was friendly and explained all the procedures. He answered my questions quickly and made sure I was aware of each step. His hard work and dedication were visible that day.
Furthermore, I was disappointed with not having a payment option using a credit or debit card. I strongly believe that having an online payment option will boost your business in new horizons. Should you require more details or documentation about my moving, I am happy to assist you further.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
Neel Desai.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly explained the positive aspects of the move, specifically the coordination and packing efficiency. You also provided a clear commendation for the employee, Raj, and identified a specific issue regarding payment methods. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of feedback. The ideas are well-developed and relevant, and the letter follows the required structure, including the specified opening. You have fulfilled all requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the task, which helps the reader follow your points easily. You use appropriate cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Furthermore' to transition between paragraphs. The paragraphing is logical and contributes to the overall clarity of the message. The referencing is clear, and the flow of information is smooth throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary appropriate for a formal letter. Phrases like 'coordination between the packing team', 'dedication were visible', and 'boost your business in new horizons' are used effectively. While the vocabulary is generally accurate and natural, there are minor areas for improvement in collocation, such as 'named as Raj' (which should simply be 'named Raj') and 'packed my entire furniture' (where 'packed all my furniture' or 'packed my belongings' would be more natural). Overall, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your message with precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures with good control. Most of your sentences are error-free, and the grammar does not impede communication. There are minor slips, such as 'I was living on the 11th floor in the building' (which could be more concisely phrased as 'I live on the 11th floor') and the slightly awkward phrasing 'disappointed with not having a payment option'. However, these do not detract from the overall clarity. Your use of punctuation and tense is generally accurate throughout the letter.
