Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir or Ma,

I am writing with regards to the services offered to me by your company during my relocation process,

Firstly I will start by commending the moving company for their swift response and professionalism.on the day of my moving the vehicles arrived on time, and it was I. A good condition.the staffs assigned to assist with packing and moving my belongings was very professional and delivery while carrying out their tasks.

The driver was particularly very helpful during this process, because he took into consideration all the road laws, and there was a bit of traffic on the main lane,so he drove through an alternative route thereby making the trip smooth and itch free.

Although at the initial point of booking for the service the customer service was a bit rude, and this almost made the change my mind about using the company.but after the all moving that was no longer an issue because of how the other staffs handled their responsibilities.

I hope this feedback meets you soon and I hope to use your services and refer you to others when needed.

Yours Faithfully

Favour Ewere.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have successfully addressed all three bullet points required by the task. You explained what went well (swift response, professionalism, punctuality), praised a specific employee (the driver), and mentioned a negative aspect (rude customer service). The tone is appropriate for a formal letter. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are slightly more developed; for instance, you could have elaborated on how the driver's actions specifically improved your moving experience. Overall, the response is clear and fulfills the requirements of the prompt effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter follows a logical progression, moving from the positive aspects to the negative feedback and concluding with a polite closing. Paragraphing is present, though the structure could be improved by separating the introduction, body points, and conclusion more distinctly. You use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly' and 'Although', but the flow between sentences is occasionally hindered by punctuation errors and run-on sentences. Improving the use of transition words and ensuring each paragraph focuses on a single clear idea would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'relocation process', 'professionalism', and 'responsibilities'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'itch free' (which is not a standard idiom; 'smooth' or 'hassle-free' would be better) and 'delivery while carrying out their tasks' (which is grammatically unclear). There are also minor spelling errors like 'staffs' (the plural of staff is 'staff'). To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring you use the correct plural forms for collective nouns.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in punctuation and grammar that occasionally impede the flow. For example, 'on the day of my moving the vehicles arrived on time, and it was I. A good condition' contains capitalization and sentence boundary issues. Additionally, there are subject-verb agreement errors, such as 'the staffs assigned... was'. While the meaning remains clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and punctuation prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence boundaries and subject-verb agreement will significantly improve your score.
