Student answer (Band 8.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am so satisfied and feeling delighted to provide some feedback on the service that I recently received from your company, on 12th July. Overall, it was a great experience, the whole process was both efficient and fast.
I was quite stressed about moving my belongings to my new apartment because most of them were fragile such as a dining table, cutlery and vanity. However, your professional and determined employees helped to ensure everything remained safe during the move. The company's comprehensive packaging and wrapping methods put my mind at ease.
I would particularly like to mention one of the movers, who went above and beyond his duties to assist me. The process was extremely efficient, which left me with enough time to manage and organize my stuff in the new place. In addition, he spent some extra time to help me in unwrap things and organizing them.
The only problematic thing that I noticed was the relatively high price. I chose after carefully reviewing feedback on your website, which gained my trust. As the distance was just about 5km from my old place, I believe price is slightly high.
I hope this feedback helps to improve and grow your company.
Yours sincerely,
Rahul

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
The response successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly explain the positive aspects of the move, provide a specific instance of praise for an employee, and identify the high cost as a point of dissatisfaction. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of feedback. The ideas are well-developed and relevant, providing sufficient detail to satisfy the requirements of the task. The purpose of the letter is clear from the outset, and the closing is professional. No parts of the task were omitted, and the response maintains a consistent focus throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt, which helps the reader follow your argument easily. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'However', 'In addition', and 'Overall' to link your sentences and paragraphs effectively. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the transition between the positive feedback and the criticism is smooth. The referencing is clear, and the overall structure contributes to a coherent and professional piece of writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.5
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary that is appropriate for the context of a formal letter. Phrases like 'went above and beyond', 'put my mind at ease', and 'comprehensive packaging' show a good command of natural-sounding English. There are no significant errors in word choice or collocation that impede meaning. While the vocabulary is effective and fits the task well, it could be slightly more sophisticated to reach the highest band, but it is certainly sufficient for a high-level score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5
The response features a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures. Most sentences are error-free, and your control of punctuation is generally strong. There are a few minor slips, such as 'help me in unwrap things' (should be 'help me unwrap things') and 'I believe price is slightly high' (missing an article, 'the price'). However, these are infrequent and do not interfere with communication. The grammatical control is consistent, and the variety of structures used is sufficient to convey your message clearly and professionally.
