Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter to formal acknowledge the services provided by your company. I recently booked your company to help during shifting of my furniture and other valuables to my new apartment. I was pleased and completely satisfied by the hard work and focused behaviour of your company employees. During the whole process they handled my belongings with much care that everything main sound and safe. I certainly was amazed to experience the professionalism of your team.
I would like to specially mention James, who is one of the member of your team. He was so honest and professional that he help me with other chores also. He handled and organized everything very well and effectively.
Despite of all this, I would like to mention the only thing that needs to be improved on your end is punctuality. Though your workers are quite efficient but they came almost 2 hours late than the expected time. It created sense of anxiety and panic in my family as we have to plan other things also accordingly.
Thank you for your cooperation and hope you will work upon my advice for betterment of your company.
Yours sincerely

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points of the task. You clearly explained what went well, praised a specific employee, and identified the issue with punctuality. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of feedback. The ideas are relevant and well-developed, providing enough detail to satisfy the requirements of the prompt. The letter follows the expected structure for a formal correspondence, and the purpose is clear from the beginning. To reach a higher band, ensure that your opening and closing statements are slightly more polished and avoid minor grammatical slips that occasionally distract from the professional tone.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the task. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Despite of all this' and 'During the whole process', which help link your thoughts. However, some transitions could be more natural. For instance, 'Despite of all this' is grammatically incorrect; 'Despite this' or 'However' would be better. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the overall structure supports the reader's understanding of your feedback. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking words would enhance the flow further.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'professionalism', 'cooperation', and 'valuables'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'formal acknowledge' instead of 'formally acknowledge' and 'main sound and safe' instead of 'remained sound and safe'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on using more natural collocations and ensuring that word forms (adverbs vs. adjectives) are used correctly in context. Your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your message clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'one of the member' (should be 'one of the members'), 'he help me' (should be 'he helped me'), and 'they came almost 2 hours late than' (should be 'two hours later than'). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. To achieve a higher band, focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tense usage. Increasing the variety of complex structures while maintaining accuracy will also help improve your score in this criterion.
