Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
My name is Manan Modi. Recently, I used your service to move my furniture and possessions to my new apartment. I am writing this letter to share my experience with the service.
To begin with, I really liked your service as it was very fast, smooth and convenient. Your staff was professional and really helpful. Particularly moving of one of my improtant galss cabinet worked out very smoothly.
I would also like praise the work which was done by Rahul. He took the charge of whole moving and took care of packaging of every item.
However, there were some aspect of the service that could be improved. First, moving vehical that you used needs a urgent maintenance as engine was taking too long to start. Furthermore, you should buy big moving truck instead of small cargo vans that you have now. It would help you to move more items at once.
Overall, I liked your service, but if you clould implement these improvemnts then It would help you to give better service to your customers.
Your faithfully,
Manan.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response fully addresses all parts of the bullet points required by the task instructions. You successfully explained what went well by mentioning that the service was fast, smooth, and convenient. You praised a specific employee, Rahul, noting that he took charge of the entire move and handled the packaging carefully. Furthermore, you mentioned an aspect you were unhappy with, specifically the moving vehicle needing maintenance and the need for larger trucks rather than small cargo vans. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a company. The requirements of the task have been completely fulfilled, demonstrating a clear understanding of General Training Task 1 correspondence.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall structure with a standard greeting, body paragraphs addressing distinct points, and an appropriate sign-off. Paragraphing is utilised adequately to separate your introduction, the positive aspects, the employee praise, the negative feedback, and the conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'I would also like praise', 'However', and 'Furthermore' are used to guide the reader logically through your ideas. While paragraphing and basic cohesion work well, some referencing and transitions feel slightly mechanical, preventing it from reaching a higher band. Overall, the message progresses in a logical and easily understandable manner.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for this type of general correspondence, including words like 'professional', 'convenient', 'packaging', and 'maintenance'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'improtant', 'galss', 'praise' instead of 'praise the work' (missing preposition), 'vehical', and 'improvemnts', which detract from the overall quality. Less common lexical items are attempted, but spelling inaccuracies and slight awkwardness in word choice (e.g., 'taking the charge of whole moving') mean that lexical control falls short of Band 7. To improve, pay closer attention to spelling and more natural collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as using conditional clauses ('if you could implement these improvements then it would help you'). There are a number of grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text, including missing articles ('moving of one of my important glass cabinets', 'needs a urgent maintenance', 'buy big moving truck') and incorrect capitalization or punctuation near the end ('then It would help'). Although these errors are noticeable and require some re-reading, they do not severely impede communication. The control of grammar is generally sufficient for everyday workplace or functional communication.
