Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing to share feedback regarding your company to help me move the furniture to my new apartment.
First of all, thank you so much for your great service. Everything went so smoothly and perfectly that I had nothing to worry about . Your packaging method is so safe that everything was delivered without any damage.
Everyone in your team is very kind and helpful to me, but one of your team members named Alex, helped me a lot in every situation. He was very flexible with his work and always came up with a great solution. I would recommend your amazing service to others.
Everything went well except for one thing that when it was time to load the furniture, your truck was not available at my accommodation on time. We had to wait an extra two hours. It was inconvenient for me because I had to do other things on that day.
Kind regards,
AVi

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The candidate has successfully addressed all three bullet points required in the prompt. First, the writer explains what went well during the move, noting that packaging was safe and everything was delivered without damage. Second, the student praises a specific employee named Alex who was flexible and helpful. Third, a negative aspect is clearly mentioned: the truck was not available on time, causing a two-hour delay. The tone is appropriately polite for a formal letter, and the purpose is clear throughout. The response fully satisfies the task requirements, earning a band score of 7.0 as all parts are addressed clearly with appropriate supporting details.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter follows a logical progression, moving naturally from a polite opening and overall praise, to a specific employee mention, and finally to the negative aspect of the service. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as grouping the positive elements together and isolating the complaint in its own paragraph. Cohesive devices are generally well managed, with phrases like 'First of all,' 'Everyone in your team,' and 'Everything went well except for one thing' guiding the reader smoothly through the text. Referencing is clear throughout, contributing to an overall coherent structure that easily merits a band score of 7.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate and appropriate for a general correspondence task. The writer successfully uses functional phrases like 'share feedback,' 'packaging method,' and 'flexible with his work.' While the range is somewhat limited and relies on fairly standard terms rather than more sophisticated or uncommon lexical items, the word choices successfully convey the intended meaning without ambiguity. Minor imperfections in collocation, such as 'moved furniture to my new apartment' instead of 'moved my furniture into my new apartment,' do not impede communication. This performance aligns well with the descriptors for a band score of 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'Everything went so smoothly and perfectly that I had nothing to worry about.' There is generally good control over basic grammar and punctuation. However, there are some tense inconsistencies and minor awkwardness, such as mixing past and present tenses ('I am writing,' 'your packaging method is so safe,' 'Everyone in your team is very kind,' contrasted with 'moved house' and 'was not available'). Despite these occasional errors, they rarely impede communication, and many sentences remain error-free. This indicates solid control consistent with a band score of 6.5.
