Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Sir,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing to share feedback regarding your company that helped me move the furniture to my new apartment.
First of all, thank you so much for your great service. Everything went so smoothly and perfectly that I had nothing to worry about. Your packaging method is so safe that everything was delivered without any damage.
Everyone in your team is very kind and helpful to me, but one of your team members named Alex helped me a lot in every situation. He was very flexible with his work and always came up with a great solution. I would recommend your amazing service to others.
Everything went well except for one thing that when it was time to load the furniture, your truck was not available at my accommodation on time. We had to wait an extra two hours. It was inconvenient for me because I had to do other things on that day.
Kind regards,
Avi

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The student successfully covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. First, the positive aspects of the move are explained, noting how smoothly everything went and praising the safe packaging method. Second, a specific employee, Alex, is praised for being flexible and helpful. Third, an aspect of the service the writer was unhappy with is clearly mentioned, specifically the two-hour delay caused by the truck not arriving on time. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of feedback to a company, beginning with 'Dear Sir,' and ending with 'Kind regards, Avi'. All parts of the task are addressed well, and the ideas are logically developed throughout the letter. Therefore, a band score of 7.0 is fully justified.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter exhibits a clear logical organisation and progression from the opening purpose, through the positive feedback and employee praise, to the negative aspect of the service, and finally the closing. Paragraphing is used effectively, with distinct paragraphs separating the introduction, the general positives, the employee praise, and the complaint. Cohesive devices such as 'First of all,' 'Everyone in your team,' and 'Everything went well except for one thing' are used appropriately to guide the reader through the text. Referencing is clear throughout. Although the transitions are relatively straightforward rather than highly sophisticated, the overall arrangement is coherent and well managed, fitting the descriptors for Band 7.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating ideas related to moving house, such as 'furniture', 'packaging method', 'delivered without any damage', and 'load the furniture'. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary and phrases, like 'flexible with his work' and 'come up with a great solution'. However, some word choices are a bit basic or slightly unnatural, such as 'share feedback regarding your company that helped me move the furniture' instead of a more natural collocation. Spelling and word choice errors are minimal and do not impede communication at all, placing this response comfortably at Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
The student uses a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'Everything went so smoothly and perfectly that I had nothing to worry about' and 'It was inconvenient for me because I had to do other things on that day.' Grammatical control is generally quite good, with many error-free sentences. There are minor tense or phrasing issues, such as 'was not available at my accommodation on time', but these errors are infrequent and do not impede understanding. Punctuation is accurate, and sentence boundaries are well maintained. This demonstrates solid command meeting the Band 7.0 criteria.
