I used your company to move my furniture and possessions to your new apartment. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The candidate has successfully covered all bullet points required by the prompt. They explained what went well on the moving day, specifically mentioning punctuality and the careful wrapping of furniture. They also praised a helpful employee named Rajandeep and mentioned an aspect of the service they were unhappy with, which was a broken showcase. Although there are some logical lapses, such as mentioning moving to 'your new apartment' in the second paragraph rather than their own, the communicative purpose of the letter is clearly achieved. The tone is mostly appropriate for a formal complaint and feedback letter. Therefore, this performance aligns well with the Band 6 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is divided into appropriate paragraphs, each tackling a different aspect of the prompt. Cohesive devices are used to connect ideas, such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'Apart from this', although some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. The logical progression is generally clear, guiding the reader from the positive aspects to the employee praise, and finally to the complaint. However, referencing is sometimes unclear, as seen in phrases like 'move your furniture... to your new apartment' where the pronoun use causes confusion. Overall arrangement is coherent, earning a Band 6 score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, with attempts at less common items such as 'puncualty' (misspelled), 'inspired' (used incorrectly for 'impressed'), and 'inteligent' (misspelled). There are several noticeable word-choice and spelling errors, such as 'chrish' instead of 'cherish' and 'Unfortunatly'. Despite these errors, the meaning is generally communicated without severe strain on the reader. The lexical range is limited but minimally adequate, fitting comfortably within the Band 5 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as relative clauses ('which are still unpacked') and conditional-like structures. However, grammatical accuracy is weak. There are frequent errors in tense consistency and verb forms, such as 'I want am very inspired', 'when we reached at new place firstly they check they the apartment', and 'he make plan how load everything'. Punctuation is also problematic, leading to run-on sentences and comma splices. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader, matching the Band 5 criteria.
