Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear sir,

I am contemptating this letter in regards to provide my feedback regarding the service, I took last week to move my stuff to my new apartment.

However I was too scared about my utensils to got damage, but your company did a very great job, which was beyond of my expectations, They wrapped up the every single item and transferred it very carefully.

Every single worker was familiar and trustworthy, but the guy named Aman was very co-operative and never argued for anything, always listned to me and followed up my instructions. Even they didn't allowed me to tip them to show my pleasure, they said its against their company's policy.

The only thing made me bit of dissapointed is, they showed up late in the morning by almost more than 1 hour, which just compelled me to change some things in my schedule. But they explained me the whole situation.

I will give 5 stars to the company for their service and surely reccomend to my friends and relatives to give you chance to serve them.

Thanks and Regards,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response successfully covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly explained what went well by describing how carefully your furniture and possessions were wrapped and transferred. You also praised a specific employee, Aman, noting that he was co-operative and followed your instructions well. Additionally, you mentioned the negative aspect of the service, which was the one-hour delay in the morning that disrupted your schedule. The tone is appropriate for a formal-style feedback letter, although the opening salutation 'Dear sir,' contains a minor capitalization slip. Overall, all parts of the task are well addressed, fulfilling the requirements for Band 7.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter follows a clear logical organization with distinct paragraphs dedicated to the introduction, the positive aspects, the employee praise, the negative aspect, and the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used adequately to link ideas, such as 'However', 'Every single worker was familiar and trustworthy, but...', and 'The only thing made me bit of dissapointed is'. While some transitions are slightly repetitive or mechanical (such as starting multiple sentences with 'Every single'), the overall progression is easy to follow. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, guiding the reader smoothly through your feedback.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common phrases such as 'beyond of my expectations', 'co-operative', and 'compelled me to change some things'. However, there are several word choice and collocation inaccuracies throughout the text, such as 'I am contemptating this letter' (instead of 'contemplating' or simply 'writing'), 'got damage' (should be 'get damaged' or 'be damaged'), and 'reccomend' (spelling error). These errors do not impede communication, but they prevent the vocabulary score from reaching a higher band. Developing more precise collocations will enhance your lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses ('the guy named Aman was very co-operative and never argued for anything') and subordinate clauses ('when you moved house'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly regarding verb forms and prepositions, including 'in regards to provide' (should be 'to provide'), 'wrapped up the every single item' (unnecessary article 'the'), and 'They didn't allowed me' (should be 'allow'). While these errors are noticeable and detract from the overall accuracy, the meaning remains clear and communication is not impeded, fitting the Band 6 descriptor well.
