Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I have recently moved to my new appartment and I booked Easy movers to move my belongings including furniture and many other important households and I am writing feedback email as requested.

I heard about Easy movers from one of my friend and I booked their services for 1st September starts from 9:00AM and surprisingly their moving team arrive 15 minutes earlier. They handled all the furniture, appliance and fragile decor with very care. They used high quality bubble wrap to securely wrap all the glass materials. Even they load and arranged all the stuff in such way that does not get damage during transportation.

The entire team was super energetic but I a guy named Chris was increadibly handling entire moving very professionally. He explained me how entire process works and giving satisfactory answers to all my questions.

The only situation, which made this process delayed, was the tire got flat while transporting and truck was not carrying spare tire. So, they called tire service and to repair the tire and the moves team arrived morethan a hour late to the destination.

Overall, the whole experience was satisfied and I would definitely reccomend their servicesto friends and family.

Regards,

Apoorv

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response successfully covers all the required bullet points from the prompt. The student explains what went well during the move, such as the team arriving early and wrapping glass materials carefully. A specific employee named Chris is praised for his professional handling of the process and for answering questions satisfactorily. Furthermore, the writer mentions an aspect of the service they were unhappy with, specifically the delayed arrival caused by a flat tire and lack of a spare tire. The purpose of the letter is clear, and the tone is appropriate for a customer feedback letter. All parts of the task are adequately addressed, earning a solid band score for this criterion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is structured with appropriate paragraphing, following a standard logical progression from the introduction and the positive aspects, to the employee praise, the negative aspect, and finally the overall conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Even they load...', 'The entire team...', and 'The only situation...'. However, some of these transitions and referencing links feel a bit mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Even they load and arranged all the stuff in such way that does not get damage'. Overall, the logical organisation is clear and the information flows reasonably well throughout the letter.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range suitable for a general correspondence task, successfully employing terms like 'appartment', 'belongings', 'fragile decor', and 'transportation'. There are some word choice errors and minor spelling mistakes, such as 'appartment' (apartment), 'households' (household items), 'increadibly' (incredibly), and 'reccomend' (recommend). Additionally, phrases like 'with very care' lack standard collocation, and 'the moves team' contains a minor grammatical slip. Despite these inaccuracies, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning without impeding communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including relative clauses and subordinate clauses (e.g., 'which made this process delayed', 'that does not get damage'). There are several noticeable grammatical errors throughout the text, including tense consistency issues ('starts from' instead of starting from, 'arrive' instead of arrived), preposition errors ('with very care' instead of with great care), and missing articles. However, the majority of sentences are understandable, and the grammatical errors do not impede overall communication, placing this response firmly in the band 6 category.
