Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to give a feedback on the service that your company recently provided me with.
I booked the sevice for 12th September, and it started early morning at exact time. The helpers arrived and packed everything carefully to load into the truck. I was really impressed with the early start as it gives us plenty of time to do the work done. After reaching the new location both of the workers unload the furniture and even helped me to set the possessions inside the rooms so almost everything went well on that day.
Both of the helpers done a great job but I would like to appriciate the helpfullness of Rohan, as he gave me a hand to clean some of the items before packaging and put stickers on to easily recognize the items.
Everything was good but one thing that I am unhappy about is the unavailabilty of covers and for that I paid extra charges from my pocket. I would suggest to take care of that in future.
I would like to suggest your company to others as well.
Thanks,
Zorawar

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The candidate successfully covers all the bullet points outlined in the prompt. The letter opens appropriately and immediately explains what went well on the day of the move, such as the punctual arrival and careful packing. Furthermore, the writer clearly praises a specific employee, Rohan, detailing how he was helpful with cleaning and labelling items. Finally, the response mentions an aspect of the service that caused dissatisfaction, specifically the unavailability of covers leading to extra charges. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of feedback, and the purpose is clear throughout. The response satisfies all requirements for this criterion, placing it firmly at a Band 7.0 as all parts of the task are fully addressed with relevant details.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organised with a clear beginning, middle, and end, following a standard correspondence structure. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas: the overall positive experience, the specific employee praise, the complaint regarding the covers, and the final recommendation. Cohesive devices are generally used effectively, although some transitions are slightly repetitive or basic, such as starting multiple sentences with conjunctions or simple connectors like 'and' or 'after'. Despite these minor limitations, the overall progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow, supporting a solid Band 6.5 descriptor where cohesion is functional and paragraphing manages the flow of information well.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for a general workplace or service review context, including terms such as 'possessions', 'impressed', 'unavailabilty', and 'recommend'. There are, however, some lexical and spelling inaccuracies, such as 'sevice' instead of 'service', 'appriciate' instead of 'appreciate', and 'helpfullness' instead of 'helpfulness'. The writer attempts some less common phrasing like 'extra charges from my pocket', but overall the vocabulary is fairly standard and occasionally simplistic. These minor errors do not impede communication, aligning the response with the Band 6.0 criteria where the writer has an adequate range for the task but makes occasional spelling and word-choice errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as the use of subordinate clauses introduced by 'as' and 'after'. However, there are several noticeable grammatical errors, particularly regarding verb forms and agreement, such as 'both of the helpers done a great job' instead of 'did', and 'it gives us' instead of 'gave us' when referring to a past event. Punctuation is generally acceptable, but article usage and tense consistency need closer attention. Because the errors occur alongside correct complex structures and do not obscure the overall meaning, the performance reflects a Band 6.0 level.
