Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I hope you are doing well. I recently got promotion, so hired your company to move my perosnal stuff. I was scared because all of my furniture I bought newly last month. But your wokers provided me an imaging service. They completely wrap and pack all of the goods in significant manner and slide it very slowly without any scretch on any piece.

On that day, your team reached at my home on a decided time without any obstacle. I showed them everything and they did their job in a perfect manner without any problem.

I remeber one of the guy whose name is Sham, he manage all of his team without aggression or frustation. He cleared all the way after load furtniture into the truck and deliver very professional way without hurry or fast.

One service which I was not feel happy or safely, I saw your truck's tire is all season which is not good in this cold weather. The truck was stuck on the drive way and other team member pushed it. I suggest you change your truck's tires, so that any mishappening will not occur.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The candidate has successfully covered all parts of the task prompt. The letter begins appropriately with the requested salutation and clearly explains what went well on the day of the move, noting that the team arrived on time and handled furniture carefully. Furthermore, an employee named Sham is specifically praised for his leadership and professional manner. Finally, the response mentions an aspect of the service that was unsatisfactory, specifically the all-season tires on the truck during cold weather. The tone is appropriate for a formal complaint and feedback letter. All bullet points are fully addressed with relevant, supporting details, earning a solid band score for this criterion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is generally coherent and shows a logical progression of ideas. Each paragraph focuses on a distinct theme: the initial hiring and general packing, the punctuality and smooth execution, the praise for the employee Sham, and finally the complaint regarding the truck tires. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to structure the response. However, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or lacking, as seen in sentences like 'One service which I was not feel happy or safely', which disrupts the flow slightly. Referencing and conjunctions could be handled with greater flexibility to reach a higher band, but the overall organization remains clear and easy to follow throughout.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'aggression', 'frustration', and 'mishappening'. However, there are noticeable word choice errors and incorrect collocations, such as 'imaging service' instead of 'amazing service', 'significant manner' instead of 'careful manner', and 'deliver very professional way'. Spelling errors like 'perosnal', 'wokers', 'scretch', 'remeber', and 'furtniture' also occur. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey the intended meaning, these frequent lexical inaccuracies keep the response firmly within the band 6 range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The candidate attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'I was scared because all of my furniture I bought newly last month' and 'I suggest you change your truck's tires, so that any mishappening will not occur.' However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including tense inconsistencies ('got promotion', 'was not feel happy'), missing articles, and preposition errors ('reached at my home', 'on a decided time'). While these errors do not completely impede communication and the reader can easily follow the narrative, the high frequency of inaccurate complex structures prevents the student from achieving a higher band score.
