Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I hope you are doing good. First of all I want to say thanks for your kind help to relocate my apartment. Unless you guys, The moving was no doubt such a huge hurdle. And we were also lucky enough that we choose sunday to move. So, There was not so much traffic on highway.
Your whole staff is very friendly and hard working. However, I want to give special shoutout to john-the receptionist who guided me in selecting which truck we should take on rent. His judgement was very accurate. He suggested me exact size of trailer in which all my house hold stuff fitted well which saved my extra cost.
The only thing which I did not like was the holding time of the deposit. Credit the deposit amount in customer's bank account takes 2 weeks which is such a long time. Other than that your service is top-notch in very affordable price.
So, Once again thank you so much for you and your whole company.
Sincerely,
Yahya Patel.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The student has successfully covered all bullet points outlined in the task prompt. First, the writer explains what went well during the move, noting that moving on a Sunday helped avoid highway traffic. Second, an employee is praised specifically, mentioning John the receptionist and his accurate judgment regarding truck size. Finally, an aspect of the service that caused dissatisfaction is mentioned, specifically the two-week holding time for the deposit refund. The tone is mostly appropriate for a semi-formal letter, though the greeting and sign-off contain minor formal inconsistencies ("Dear Sir" combined with "I hope you are doing good"). Overall, the task is fully addressed and ideas are adequately developed for a General Training Task 1 response, earning a solid band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organised into clear paragraphs, each serving a distinct function related to the prompt requirements. Ideas are logically sequenced, moving from an introduction and what went well, to employee praise, a complaint about the deposit, and a polite sign-off. Cohesive devices are used, such as "However", "The only thing", and "Other than that", though referencing and cohesion can occasionally feel somewhat simplistic or disjointed, as seen with sentences like "Unless you guys, The moving was no doubt such a huge hurdle." Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, providing an overall coherent arrangement that allows the reader to follow the letter easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common phrases like "huge hurdle", "top-notch", and "accurate judgment". However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation inaccuracies throughout the response, such as "doing good" instead of "doing well", "choose sunday" (tense/capitalisation error), and "Credit the deposit amount" instead of "Crediting the deposit amount". Despite these occasional errors and informal slips, the vocabulary used is sufficient to communicate the intended message clearly without causing major confusion for the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional-style framing ("Unless you guys, The moving was...") and relative clauses ("...trailer in which all my house hold stuff fitted well which saved my extra cost"). However, there are several grammatical errors and punctuation issues, including sentence fragments like "So, There was not so much traffic on highway" and run-on structures lacking commas. Minor capitalization errors also occur ("sunday",
