Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to provide you detailed feedback regarding service offered by your removal company. To commence with, I booked your service on 15 September to help move my furniture and my personal belongings to my new apartment. I particulary appreciated the fact that everything was done in just 2 hours. Staff marked everything on the boxes and the placed those boxes wherever they belong to. For instance, they marked my kitchen furniture as K and they placed that box in the kitchen, which was really helpful for me.
In addition to, I highly appreciate the service offered by your staff especially, Mohdeep. He was very kind and helpful. He took proper care of my furniture. He was very efficient.
Overall, I was impressed with the service. However, the service was too expensive for 2 hours. I would appreciate it if you can provide some discounts. As removal companies charge their service per hour. Thankyou for your time and attention to my feedback.
Yours faithfully,
Sukhdeep Kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You successfully covered all three bullet points required in the task instructions. You explained what went well by mentioning the speed of the move and the helpful box-labeling system, such as marking kitchen furniture with a 'K'. You also praised a specific employee, Mohdeep, noting his kindness, efficiency, and care with your furniture. Additionally, you addressed an aspect you were unhappy with by pointing out that the service was too expensive and asking for a discount. The letter maintains an appropriate tone throughout, and your purpose is clear from the opening paragraph. All parts of the prompt are addressed well, earning a solid band score for this criterion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
Your letter has a clear overall progression and logical organisation. You used appropriate introductory and concluding conventions, starting with 'Dear Sir or Madam,' and ending with 'Yours faithfully,' followed by your name. You also attempted to link your ideas using cohesive phrases such as 'To commence with' and 'In addition to'. However, some of your cohesive devices are a bit mechanical or used with minor grammatical awkwardness, such as starting a sentence with 'In addition to,' without completing the prepositional phrase. Paragraphing is used adequately to separate your introduction, positive feedback, employee praise, negative feedback, and conclusion, ensuring the reader can easily follow your letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrated an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'personal belongings', 'efficient', and 'appreciate'. However, there are a few lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as writing 'service offered by your removal company. To commence with' missing a space after the punctuation, and saying 'placed those boxes wherever they belong to' instead of 'where they belonged'. You also wrote 'In addition to, I highly appreciate...' which misuses the prepositional phrase. Despite these occasional slips, your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly without impeding communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You used a mix of simple and complex sentence forms throughout your letter, such as relative clauses ('which was really helpful for me') and conditional structures ('I would appreciate it if you can provide some discounts'). There are several grammatical errors and punctuation issues present, including missing articles ('provide you detailed feedback', 'service offered'), a sentence fragment ('especially, Mohdeep'), and tense inconsistency ('if you can provide' instead of 'could provide'). Furthermore, there are minor punctuation and spacing errors, such as a missing space after a period before 'To commence with'. However, these errors do not impede communication, and you demonstrated a reasonable control over basic sentence structures.
