Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter to express my satisfaction with the services provided while moving my furniture to my new apartment.
The moving of household items went well. Inspite of the bad weather condition the staff were so co-operative in packing the stuff and moving them into the truck.
The person who was driving the truck was very helpful than the other person. He actually took time to move the things out patiently. He waited for a chance for the rain to slowed down and started to move quickly than the other person.
I was not happy with the other guy who was helping as he wanted to move the boxes out of the truck quickly irrespective of the weather condition and was not worried about the wooden furniture and matress getting damaged.
I am very sorry about the bad feedback but would like to share honest review on the service.
Thank you for consideration.
Kind regards,
Your's faithfully,
Kavya Nakkala

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all the bullet points specified in the prompt: it explains what went well, praises a specific employee (the driver), and mentions an aspect of the service that was unsatisfactory (the other worker's careless attitude). The tone is appropriate for a formal complaint/feedback letter, starting with 'Dear Sir or Madam' and closing formally, although there is a slight contradiction between expressing 'satisfaction' in the first paragraph and complaining later. The ideas are relevant and fulfill the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of the points is somewhat basic and could be extended further to achieve a higher band, such as providing more detail on the specific circumstances of the move. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, satisfying the requirements for Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organised into clear paragraphs, starting with an introductory statement, followed by distinct paragraphs for each bullet point, and a polite sign-off. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'The moving of household items', 'The person who was driving', and 'I was not happy with the other guy', which help guide the reader through the narrative. However, the transitions between sentences can feel a bit mechanical, and referencing is occasionally repetitive ('the other person', 'the other guy'). Paragraphing is generally appropriate for a letter format, despite some very short single-sentence paragraphs. Progression of ideas is logical overall, earning a solid Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, with terms like 'co-operative', 'furniture', 'possessions', and 'appartment' (though misspelled). The student attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'irrespective' and 'satisfaction', but there are noticeable errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'Inspite' (instead of 'In spite'), 'condition' (used in the singular where plural is expected, or missing prepositional agreement), 'matress' (mattress), and 'slowed down' (should be 'slow down' after 'to'). There is also an informal slip with 'the other guy'. These limitations place the lexical resource firmly at Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'Inspite of the bad weather condition the staff were so co-operative...' and 'The person who was driving the truck was very helpful than the other person.' Grammatical errors are present throughout the text, including punctuation errors (missing commas after introductory phrases), incorrect comparative forms ('more helpful than' rather than 'very helpful than'), tense inconsistency ('rain to slowed down'), and spelling/lexical mechanics ('Your's faithfully' instead of 'Yours faithfully'). While these errors do not impede overall communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent the writing from reaching Band 7.0, making Band 6.0 the most accurate reflection.
