| Criterion | Band |
|---|---|

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The candidate successfully covers all bullet points required by the task instructions. The letter explains what went well, specifically noting that the removal team arrived early, ensuring the move was completed on time. Furthermore, an employee is praised for their helpfulness and good driving skills, and an aspect of dissatisfaction is clearly mentioned regarding the high charges compared to other companies. The tone is appropriate for a formal complaint or feedback letter, and the purpose is clear throughout the response, meeting the requirements well.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is generally coherent and follows a logical structure using paragraphing, starting with an introduction, followed by body paragraphs addressing the specific bullet points, and concluding with a sign-off. However, transitions between ideas are sometimes mechanical or abrupt, such as the use of 'Firstly,' and 'Secondly,'. Cohesive devices are occasionally inaccurate or repetitive, particularly in referencing and linking clauses (e.g., 'If they reached on fixed time, my moving did not finish on time'). Paragraphing is present, but overall organisational flow could be smoother to achieve a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The candidate demonstrates an adequate vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating meaning regarding the moving process. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary and descriptive phrases (e.g., 'possessions', 'frustrated', 'satisfied'), but these are accompanied by noticeable word-choice and collocation errors, such as 'employess', 'getting time', and 'did my help'. Spelling errors and incorrect word forms occur throughout the text (e.g., 'happiest' instead of 'happy', 'Your faithfully' instead of 'Yours faithfully'), which slightly impacts precision, though communication is not impeded.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures ('If they reached on fixed time, my moving did not finish on time'). However, control over grammar is inconsistent, leading to frequent errors in tense usage, prepositions, and verb forms (e.g., 'reached at my home', 'moving done', 'did not reacted'). Punctuation and article usage also show frequent lapses. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they restrict the grammar score to Band 5.5 due to the persistent lack of accuracy in complex structures.
