Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to provide a feedback for service I recently received from "Easy Movers Pvt Limited"
To begin with, I had my moving on last week which was done by the company. It was really impresive. Since none of the goods were damaged. Every furniture and belongins moved very carefully. The four employees handled in a professional manner. The next thing was my previous apartment had a limited space. Initially I were concerend about handling the goods. Fortunatley they were able to manage the space.
Furthermore, John was specially helped to manage some hard situations. As an example there was a heavy sofa which had to move through the staircase. He gave clear directions to his team. Not only giving instructions but also helped a lot. I think he needs to be appreciated for his professional work.
Finally, the only drawback was the delay happened due to the moving truck's technical fault. It took 3 hours to fix which led to delay everything 3 hours back. In my opinion the vehicle was too old and had not received repairs recently.
I hope you will thke this feedback into consideration. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to seeing positive changes in the future.
Yours faithfully,
Chamath.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The candidate has successfully addressed all three bullet points required in the task instructions. The letter explains what went well during the house move, praising the careful handling of furniture and space management. It highlights an employee named John who gave clear directions and assisted his team with a heavy sofa, and it clearly mentions an unsatisfactory aspect, specifically the delay caused by a technical fault in an old moving truck. The tone is appropriately formal for a complaint and feedback letter, and the purpose is clear from the beginning to the end. The ideas are relevant and sufficiently extended, matching the Band 7 level descriptors for Task Achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is arranged logically with a clear introduction, body paragraphs dealing with different aspects of the move, and an appropriate closing sign-off. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'Finally' are used to structure the text, though referencing and transitional phrases occasionally feel a bit mechanical ('The next thing was'). Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate distinct ideas, including the positive aspects, the employee praise, and the negative aspect. Progression is clear throughout, and the overall coherence satisfies the requirements for a Band 6.5 or 7.0, supported by adequate paragraphing and logical sequencing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The candidate uses an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for a general correspondence task, including words and phrases like 'professional manner', 'concerend', 'drawback', and 'technical fault'. While there are some spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'impresive' instead of impressive, 'belongins' instead of belongings, and the unnatural phrasing 'delay everything 3 hours back', communication is never impeded. The writer attempts less common lexical items like 'appreciate' and 'consideration'. The lexical resource demonstrates a solid Band 6 level, where vocabulary is adequate for the task despite noticeable slip-ups in spelling and collocation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional and subordinate clauses ('Since none of the goods were damaged', 'Initially I were concerend'). There are several grammatical inaccuracies and slips throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement errors ('Initially I were'), missing prepositions ('provide a feedback', 'delay happened'), and tense inconsistencies. However, these errors do not impede overall comprehension, and the meaning remains clear. The grammatical control aligns well with the Band 6 descriptor, featuring a combination of correct simple structures alongside attempts at complex forms that contain frequent minor errors.
