Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing this letter to give a feedback about the services I received on Friday, the 12th of August 2026 from your esteemed company of moving my furniture and other possessions to my new address.

On the day of moving, two person came on time to helped us in packing all the stuff, such as furniture which includes kitchen crockery as well. They bought big card board boxes to pack all the delicate stuffs carefully.

Their name were Kiran and Aston. They both were very supportive, calm and very cooperative. I would say they are the real asset of your corporation. I also recommend to my friends to use your service and asked specifically for both of them.

However, when your drivers came to pick up all the possessions, they were in bit hurry to load all the material as they also had to reached at any other place. When I reached at my new place and opened the boxes all my crockery were shattered into pieces, which were absolutely fine when it was packed. That means it happened by the negligience of drivers while loading or unloading the material.

Although the service was good, I believe drivers need to be more careful while handling the delicate stuffs. Hope this review will help.

Yours sincerely,

Navdeep Kahlon

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You successfully covered all three bullet points required in the task instructions. You explained what went well on the day of the move, noting that the team arrived on time and brought large cardboard boxes for delicate items. You also praised two specific employees, Kiran and Aston, for being supportive and calm. Furthermore, you mentioned an aspect of the service you were not happy with, specifically explaining how your crockery was shattered due to careless loading by the drivers. The tone of the letter is appropriate for a formal complaint and feedback letter, and your ideas are clearly conveyed and fully relevant to the prompt, aligning well with the Band 7 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

Your letter has a clear overall structure and a logical progression of ideas. You begin with an appropriate salutation and a clear statement of purpose, follow a chronological and thematic separation of points into paragraphs, and conclude appropriately. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the positive feedback from the negative complaint. However, there are minor issues with cohesive devices and transitions, such as 'That means it happened by the negligience of drivers', which lacks smoother integration into the surrounding argument. Overall, the organization is clear and easy to follow, supporting a Band 6.5 or 7.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrated an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common phrases such as 'esteemed company', 'delicate stuffs', and 'real asset'. However, there are several lexical errors and awkward collocations that hold your score back. For instance, you wrote 'give a feedback' instead of 'provide feedback', 'two person' instead of 'two people', 'stuff' which is informal, and 'negligience' which is misspelled. You also used 'stuffs' as a plural noun, which is incorrect in standard English. These inaccuracies show limitations in word choice and spelling, placing your lexical resource at Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You used a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional structures. However, your writing contains frequent grammatical errors, particularly regarding subject-verb agreement and preposition use. Examples include 'two person came... to helped us' (should be 'two people came... to help us'), 'They bought big card board boxes' ('brought' instead of 'bought'), 'they also had to reached' (should be 'reach'), and 'all my crockery were shattered' (should be 'was shattered', as crockery is uncountable). These errors do not completely impede communication, but they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score, matching the descriptors for Band 6.0.
