Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to give feedback about removal service I recently used to moved my furniture.
Overall, the service was an excellent. The staff were arrived at time and collected my all belongings safely. In addtion, They moved all my expensive furniture carefully and fastly than I expected. What I like the most is the staff were very polite and supportive through out the day.
I would particularly like to praise one of your employees Mr. Patel, he was really patient and friendly employee who wraped my fragile items very carefully and made sure all boxes were in the correct rooms. He was calm when I asked him to moved the other goods in the correct position.
One thing that I was slightly disappointed was that communication before moving day. I had to call your company several times because I did not get proper response about the arrival time. I would suggest providing customers with detailed information in advance.
Thank you for your time and excellent service.
Yors faithfully,
Khushbu Patel

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response successfully covers all the bullet points outlined in the prompt. You clearly explained what went well on the moving day, such as the staff arriving on time and handling belongings safely. Furthermore, you praised a specific employee, Mr. Patel, for his helpfulness and patience, and you mentioned your dissatisfaction with the communication regarding arrival times prior to moving day. The letter adopts an appropriate semi-formal/formal tone suitable for customer feedback and maintains a clear purpose throughout. All requirements of the task have been addressed well, aligning closely with the Band 7 descriptors where all parts of the prompt are fully covered with clear and relevant supporting details.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organised logically into clear paragraphs, each serving a distinct purpose corresponding to the bullet points. Progression is generally clear as you move from general feedback to specific praise and finally to criticism. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Overall', 'In addition', and 'What I like the most', though some transitions are slightly repetitive or mechanical. Referencing is generally clear, and paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. This performance sits comfortably in Band 6 to 7. Because the overall arrangement is coherent and logical despite minor mechanical cohesion, a band 6.5 is appropriate.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms such as 'fragile items', 'belongings', and 'disappointed'. However, there are some noticeable word choice and morphological errors, such as 'service was an excellent' instead of 'an excellent service', 'fastly' instead of 'much faster', and 'wraped' instead of 'wrapped'. While you attempt some less common vocabulary, inaccuracies in word formation and collocation prevent a higher score. Nevertheless, the meaning is never obscured, allowing the reader to follow your points easily, which is characteristic of Band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over sentence structure with clauses like 'I would particularly like to praise... who wrapped my fragile items'. However, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text, including tense and subject-verb agreement issues like 'The staff were arrived at time' instead of 'arrived on time', and comma splices such as 'Mr. Patel, he was really patient'. Although these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede overall communication. Your control of grammar aligns well with the Band 6 descriptor, featuring a workable mix of structures alongside frequent minor errors.
