Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to share my experience with service of your moving company that I recently used to relocate my furniture.
Last week, I hired a service from your company to transport my furnitures and other possessions to my new apartment. The best thing that I want to mention is that staff members of your company are quite punctual and they arrived on time, which I love to appreicate.
One of the employees was really helpful and cooperated. He helped me a lot to load all the necessary items and he was really patient. Moreover, he was also very polite, which placed positive impact on me.
However, there was a thing that really disappointed me and I experienced upon unpacking my items. The glass of the dining table had so many scratches, it was completely in a good condition while packaging. I am sure that it happened because of careless unloading. I would be appreciated it if compensation arranged of this damage and I would attach it picture for your reference.
Thank you your time and consideration. I hope this feedback would be helpful to appreciate you excellent emloyees and improve your service in the future.
Yours faith

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The candidate successfully covers all bullet points required by the task prompt. First, the letter explains what went well, mentioning that the staff arrived on time and were punctual. Second, it praises a specific employee who was helpful, cooperative, and polite during the loading process. Finally, it outlines an aspect of the service that was unsatisfactory—specifically, that the glass of the dining table was scratched during unloading. The purpose of the letter is clear, and a polite, appropriate tone is maintained throughout. Although the sign-off is incomplete ('Yours faith'), the content fulfills all the requirements of the task. Therefore, this performance comfortably satisfies the Band 6 descriptors and approaches Band 7.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter exhibits a coherent overall arrangement with logical paragraphing that separates the introduction, the positive aspects, the employee praise, the complaint, and the conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'However', and 'which' are employed to connect ideas, though some referencing and transitions feel slightly formulaic or mechanical. For example, 'there was a thing that really disappointed me and I experienced upon unpacking my items' is slightly awkward. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately to guide the reader through the different requirements of the task. Progression is generally clear, earning a solid Band 6.5.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating everyday service feedback. There are attempts at less common lexical items such as 'punctual', 'cooperated', 'compensation', and 'reference'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as 'transport my furnitures' (furniture is uncountable), 'which I love to appreicate', and 'placed positive impact on me' (should be 'made a positive impact'). Spelling errors also occur, such as 'appreicate' and 'emloyees'. These errors do not impede communication, but they prevent the response from achieving a higher band. Overall, the lexical control aligns well with the Band 6 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and subordinate structures like 'which I love to appreciate' and 'I am sure that it happened because of careless unloading.' There are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings throughout, such as 'I would be appreciated it if compensation arranged of this damage and I would attach it picture for your reference' and 'Thank you your time'. The unfinished sign-off ('Yours faith') also reflects a lapse in grammatical and structural control at the sentence level. While these errors are frequent, they rarely impede overall communication, placing the response firmly in the Band 6 category.
