Student answer (Band 7.0)

Dear Sir,

I am writing to provide feedback on the removal service I recently used when moving my furtinure and personal belongings to my new appartment. Overall, I was statisfied with yoyr service, particularly with the efficiency and professionalism of your team.

On the day of the move, the staff arrived on time and handled my belongings with carefully. They carefully wrapped fragile items, labelled the boxes and loaded everything onto the vehicle in an organised mammer. The entire proccess was completed considerably faster than I had anticipated, and all my possessions arrived at the new apartment without any damage.

I would like to commend one of your employees, Mr. Patel, for his exceptional assistance. He was delligent, patient and extremely attentive throughout the move. He also helped me assemble several pieces of furniture after they had been delivered, which was beyond what I had excepted from the service.

However, there was one asepct that could be improved. The company vehicle arrived slightly later than the scheduled time, which caused a minor delay at the beginning of the move. I would therefore suggest providing custmores with a more precise arrival window or notifying them promptly if there is likely to be a delay.

Despite this minor issue, I greatly appreciated the quality of your service and would certaainly consider using your company again in the future.

Yours faithfully,

Hani Prajapati

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response successfully covers all bullet points required by the task instructions. The student clearly explains what went well on the day of the move, such as the staff arriving on time and handling belongings carefully, praises a specific employee named Mr. Patel for his exceptional diligence, and mentions an aspect of the service that caused dissatisfaction, which was the slight delay in the arrival of the vehicle. The letter adopts an appropriate formal tone suitable for a complaint and feedback letter, and the purpose of the communication is evident from the opening paragraph. All parts of the prompt are well-developed and addressed with relevant details, fulfilling the requirements for this band level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter is logically organised with a clear progression from the opening purpose, through the positive aspects, the employee praise, the complaint about the delay, to the courteous concluding remarks. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points, with each paragraph focusing on a specific aspect of the feedback. Cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'On the day of the move', 'I would like to commend', and 'However' are employed effectively to guide the reader through the text, although referencing and transitions are at times slightly formulaic, keeping the response at this solid level.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate to good range of vocabulary appropriate for a formal complaint letter, using terms such as 'efficiency', 'professionalism', 'exceptional assistance', and 'precise arrival window'. However, there are a few noticeable spelling errors throughout the text, including 'furtinure' (furniture), 'appartment' (apartment), 'statisfied' (satisfied), 'yoyr' (your), 'mammer' (manner), 'proccess' (process), 'delligent' (diligent), 'excepted' (expected), 'asepct' (aspect), 'custmores' (customers), and 'certaainly' (certainly). While these spelling slips are frequent, they do not impede communication, and the writer successfully attempts less common lexical items.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0

The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'The entire process was completed considerably faster than I had anticipated, and all my possessions arrived at the new apartment without any damage.' There is good control over tense usage and punctuation overall. Grammatical errors are relatively minor and infrequent, for instance, 'handled my belongings with carefully' where an adverb is incorrectly phrased, but the majority of sentences remain error-free and do not interfere with the clarity of the message.
