Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I recently got your letter where your company wants to know about my experience about the services of your company. I really appreciate the commitment of the company about the time limits. The company promised me that they will only take 4 hours to move everything including furniture and my personal belongings and they kept theur promise.
Two person came to my apartment for moving at sharp 10am. One young boy named Sandeep was very hardworking and experienced. He packed everything appropriately according to my preference. Moreover, Sandeep provides me some ideas how I can unpack things without any damage.
However, I disappointed with the receptionist of your company. People seems untrained, they do not have skills to manage customer services. She put me on hold almost about 10 minutes when I called her to book your company services. I hope you will solve this problem shortly. Otherwise, your company services are satisfactory.
I wish your business flourish in the future.
Best regards,
Simranpreet Kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The candidate has successfully covered all bullet points required by the task instructions. She explains what went well on the moving day, specifically mentioning the adherence to the promised time limit of four hours. She praises a specific employee named Sandeep who was hardworking, experienced, and gave useful unpacking advice. Additionally, she mentions an aspect of the service she was unhappy with, which was the receptionist's poor customer service and long hold time. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a company. The ideas are clearly relevant and adequately developed, fulfilling the requirements for Band 6.5 to 7.0. Because all parts of the prompt are clearly addressed and supported with relevant details, a band score of 6.5 is awarded.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organised with a clear beginning, middle paragraphs addressing each prompt requirement, and a courteous sign-off. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different points, such as the positive aspects in the second paragraph and the negative complaint in the third paragraph. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover' and 'However', although referencing occasionally feels slightly mechanical (e.g., 'People seems untrained'). Overall, the letter has a coherent arrangement and progression throughout, allowing the reader to follow the writer's thoughts easily, which aligns well with the Band 6 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'commitment', 'appropriately', 'preference', and 'satisfactory'. However, there are some word choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as 'experience about the services', 'provides me some ideas' instead of 'gives me some ideas', and 'I disappointed' instead of 'I was disappointed'. There are also minor spelling slips like 'theur' instead of 'their'. While less common vocabulary is attempted, these errors show a typical Band 6 profile where vocabulary is sufficient for communication but lacks precision and control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'The company promised me that they will only take 4 hours...' and 'She put me on hold almost about 10 minutes when I called her...'. However, there are several grammatical errors, including tense consistency issues ('will only take' instead of 'would only take'), subject-verb agreement ('People seems' instead of 'People seem'), and missing auxiliary verbs ('I disappointed'). Punctuation is generally fine, but the grammatical slips are frequent enough to occasionally impede smooth reading, placing this response firmly at Band 6.
