Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I hope this email finds you well. I am writing this to you in response of your recent service provided by your company for moving our furniture safely. Hence I would like to give you a feedback on your excellence service.
First of all your team was very puntual and they exactly arrived on mentioned time. Also during the moving process we were worried about the packaging and labelling part and your team did excellent job to cover that part. Moreover to this, All the furniture and other goods were taken care of properly without any damage which was our major concern.
There were four people in the team. However, team member named Ravi was very kind and helpful during the moving process. He clearly answered all of our questions and concerns related to moving process.
Furthermore, There were some things that we found unreasonable which is fee structure and hidden charges on our bill. Which caused us huge dissapointment toward your service.
I request you to eliminate this concerns in future business with your client. Thank you for your great service.Looking forward for more business with you in future.
Warm Wishes,
Ram

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response covers all parts of the task effectively. Ram successfully explains what went well, mentioning the punctuality of the team and the careful handling of furniture. He also praises a specific employee, Ravi, noting his helpful attitude and clear communication in answering questions. Furthermore, he includes the negative aspect of the service, specifically highlighting the issue with the fee structure and hidden charges. The tone is appropriate for a formal complaint letter, and the purpose is clear from the beginning to the end. The ideas are relevant and well-developed, satisfying the requirements of a General Training Task 1 response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter has a clear logical organization with an overall progression from introduction to positive aspects, specific praise, negative feedback, and conclusion. Ram uses basic cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Also', 'Moreover to this', and 'Furthermore' to structure his ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different points, such as the praise for Ravi and the complaint about the bill. However, some cohesive links are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'Moreover to this' and starting a sentence with 'Which', which prevents the cohesion score from reaching a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Ram uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully conveying his message with words and phrases like 'packaging and labelling', 'major concern', and 'unreasonable'. However, there are some noticeable spelling and word choice errors, such as 'puntual' instead of punctual, 'excellence service' instead of excellent service, and 'dissapointment' with double 's' misplaced. While these errors do not impede communication, they reflect a Band 6 level where vocabulary is functional but contains occasional inaccuracies in spelling and collocation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'Although during the moving process we were worried...' and 'There were four people in the team. However, team member named Ravi was...'. There are several grammatical errors and punctuation issues throughout the text, including preposition errors ('in response of' instead of 'in response to', 'give you a feedback' where feedback is uncountable), missing articles ('team member named Ravi'), and sentence fragments ('Which caused us huge dissapointment...'). Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear and they do not impede communication.
