Student answer (Band 6.5)
Daer Sir or Madam,
I recently hiered workers from your company in order to shift my houshold goods. I am writing this letter in order to do a review for the service I got.
Your company deed a very good job at packing and moving. The most appreciable thing was the accuracy and soft handling of goods by the workers. They were on top notch in terms of teamwork and task manafement and working speed. Also, one of the most dedicated employees, the one who gave extra effort, was the in charge of the team. He directed whole team with such dignity and grace, that this task went effortless. I will surely recommend your company to those who are in search of the trustworthy team to move their furniture.
One important thing that I want to drag your attention at is, time management. You r team arrived late at my palce, resulting into the late completion of task. Owing to this, they worked in haste and broke one leg of my vintage dressing table.
An improvement in the performance is needed.
Yours sincerley,
Amisha

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The candidate has successfully addressed all bullet points outlined in the prompt. The letter clearly explains what went well during the house move, specifically praising the careful handling of household goods and the efficiency of the workers. Furthermore, the employee who led the team is successfully highlighted and praised for his dedication and management. Finally, a negative aspect of the service is clearly mentioned regarding the late arrival, which led to working in a hurry and the accidental breakage of a dressing table leg. The tone of the letter is appropriate for a formal complaint and review. The content is fully relevant and directly answers all aspects of the task prompt, demonstrating a clear understanding of General Training task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter exhibits a clear overall progression and logical organization. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, the positive feedback, the negative feedback, and the brief conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed to connect ideas, such as 'Also' and 'Owing to this', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive in structure. Referencing is generally clear, and the reader is easily guided through the writer's experience and grievances. The logical sequencing supports the communicative purpose of the letter effectively, placing it comfortably in the Band 6 to 7 range.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'accuracy', 'teamwork', 'task management', and 'vintage dressing table'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the response, including 'Daer' instead of Dear, 'hiered' instead of hired, 'houshold' instead of household, 'deed' instead of did, 'top notch' used as a prepositional phrase, and 'palce' instead of place. These lexical errors do not impede overall communication, as the intended meaning remains clear, but they prevent the score from reaching higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at relative clauses and prepositional phrases (e.g., 'the one who gave extra effort' and 'resulting into the late completion of task'). However, there are several grammatical and mechanical inaccuracies, such as 'do a review for the service I got' instead of 'review the service', 'directing whole team' missing an article, and 'resulting into' which should be 'resulting in'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, and while errors occur, they rarely impede communication, allowing the response to secure a solid band 6.
