Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The candidate successfully covers all bullet points required by the task prompt. The letter begins appropriately, and the student explains what went well during the house move, specifically mentioning how the removal team handled important furniture and possessions carefully. Furthermore, an employee named Taranvir Singh is praised for going above and beyond by helping with the vacuum. Finally, an aspect of the service that caused dissatisfaction is clearly mentioned, namely the old-fashioned covering system for furniture. While the tone is appropriate for a general letter and all aspects are addressed, some ideas lack full extension and contain minor generalisations, which places this response comfortably at Band 6.5 to 7.0. Because all required functions are met, a Band 6.5 is well justified.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter is organised into logical paragraphs, each addressing a distinct part of the prompt, such as the initial positive feedback, the employee praise, and the criticism regarding the wrapping materials. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'Finally', although some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive, as seen with the repeated use of 'I would like to say'. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate ideas. Referencing is mostly clear, though occasional mechanical cohesive errors prevent the response from achieving a higher band. Overall, the logical progression is evident throughout the letter, supporting a solid Band 6.5 score.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common phrases such as 'unorganized', 'fragile', and 'professional'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation errors throughout the response, such as writing 'feeback' instead of 'feedback', 'differ containers' instead of 'different containers', and 'raping the furniture' instead of 'wrapping the furniture'. These errors show some limitation in lexical control. While communication is not severely impeded, these frequent slips in spelling and lexical items prevent the score from reaching Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'I am writing to feedback about the service which was provided by your company.' However, there are frequent grammatical errors in tense consistency, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, including 'your company help me', 'on that my house', 'employee work', 'much time', and 'extra efforts'. Additionally, punctuation and phrasing errors appear, such as comma splices and run-on structures ('one of your employee name Taranvir Singh he helped me'). Although these errors do not completely obscure the meaning, they are persistent enough to cap the grammatical score at Band 5.5.
