Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I recently took help from your company to move my furniture to my new home. I really impressed by the punctuality and team work of your emplyoees. on the day of moving, i had work in the evening. That is why,I gave them the time to start moving my stuff which was 10'o clock in the morning and they were even there before 10am. Due to that we were able to finish on time.
I really wants to appreciate team leader Satinder who knew his work very well. Under his guidance, all the team works really well. I gave instructions to him in the beginning and he made sure everything is according to my instrutions for instance which stuff i wanted to keep first in the house etc.
Eventhough, everything went according to the plan. But one aspect i want to mention about the moving which disapointment me a bit is that they brought small truck due to that they had to go back two-three times to brought my furniture. it could be batter if you provide large size pick-up truck for moving. If you consider my suggestion, it might be helpful for your future customers.
Your Sincerely,
Tania Kalra

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You successfully covered all three bullet points required in the prompt. You explained what went well on the move, specifically highlighting the punctuality of the crew. You also praised a specific employee, mentioning the team leader Satinder and how well he managed the process. Additionally, you addressed an aspect you were unhappy with by pointing out that the truck was too small, which required multiple trips. Your ideas are relevant and properly extended, fulfilling the requirements for a General Training letter. Although there are some minor mechanical and vocabulary errors, the purpose of the letter is clear, and the tone is appropriate throughout, meeting the criteria for a Band 6.5 or 7.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
Your letter is organised into clear paragraphs, each addressing a different part of the prompt. You begin with an appropriate salutation and end with a formal sign-off. Cohesive devices are used to link your ideas, such as 'That is why', 'for instance', and 'Eventhough'. However, some of your referencing and punctuation are faulty, for example starting sentences with lower-case letters ('on the day', 'i had', 'i gave') and misusing punctuation around transitional phrases. Paragraphing is generally appropriate, ensuring a logical flow from the positive aspects to the complaint. With better punctuation control and smoother transitions, your score would be higher, but your overall organisation is clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms such as 'punctuality', 'guidance', and 'instructions'. However, there are several word choice and collocation errors that hinder precision. For instance, you wrote 'took help' instead of 'received help' or 'used the services', 'emplyoees' contains a spelling error, 'disapointment' should be the adjective 'disappointed', and 'brought' was incorrectly used instead of 'bring' or 'make'. Despite these limitations, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your message clearly to the reader without causing major misunderstandings.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional structures such as 'If you consider my suggestion, it might be helpful'. However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text. These include missing capitalisation ('i had', 'i gave'), incorrect verb forms ('disapointment me', 'to brought my furniture'), and run-on sentences punctuated incorrectly, such as 'Eventhough, everything went according to the plan. But one aspect...'. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they prevent you from achieving a higher band score due to a lack of consistent grammatical control in complex sentences.
