Student answer (Band 5.0)
Dear Manager,
I am writing to express my concern with regard to the removal company's service on the day of my moveout.
The companies service was remarkable. They indeed trasnsferred all my furniture and possessions, such as fridge and tables within the given time period. Non of the employees were wasted their quality time simple on any other tasks .I was truely impressed their hardwork.
Mable, who was only 19 was reall impressed me with her working ability. She was deligating her tasks with so much conficence. They way she was all in all with every aspects of works was truley mindblewing .
However, the total cost for the service was not appreciatable. I almost spent $200 for 5 hours work. I strongly believe that it is too much for the working hours. In addition, the employees were rushing too fast to finish the work at the end .It was not satisfactory.
Thank you for the service and it was truly an amazing experience.
Yours sincerely,
kee ku.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. The student explains what went well, specifically noting the timely transfer of furniture such as the fridge and tables. An employee named Mable is praised for her delegation and confidence. Furthermore, an aspect of the service that caused dissatisfaction is mentioned, namely the high cost of $200 for 5 hours of work and the rushed nature of the finish. However, there are some contradictions, such as starting the letter by saying 'The companies service was remarkable' and ending by stating 'it was truly an amazing experience', yet complaining about the price and the rushing in the body paragraph. The purpose is generally clear, but paragraph development and tone consistency require refinement. Overall, it achieves a Band 5.5.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The letter uses basic paragraphing, separating the introduction, body points, and conclusion, though the structure is somewhat compromised by the contradictory statements regarding overall satisfaction. Cohesive devices are minimal and sometimes inaccurate or awkward, such as starting sentences abruptly without smooth transitions. For instance, 'Non of the employees were wasted their quality time simple on any other tasks' disrupts the flow. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and logical progression suffers due to shifts in sentiment between paragraphs. However, an overall arrangement is present, allowing the reader to follow the main points of the letter. This corresponds to a Band 5.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with noticeable errors in word choice and spelling that occasionally strain the reader. Examples include 'moveout' instead of move, 'trasnsferred' instead of transferred, 'truely' instead of truly, and 'appreciatable' instead of reasonable or acceptable. The student attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'mindblewing', but spelling and morphological errors prevent accurate control. While the range is adequate for communicating simple ideas about the move, the frequent lexical inaccuracies restrict the score to a Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response exhibits a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences with frequent errors. There are notable structural and tense inaccuracies, such as 'Non of the employees were wasted their quality time simple on any other tasks', 'reall impressed me', and 'The way she was all in all with every aspects of works was truley mindblewing'. Punctuation is also problematic, with missing spaces after periods and commas. Errors are frequent and often cause difficulty for the reader, particularly in the body paragraphs where sentence construction breaks down. This performance aligns with a Band 4.5.
