Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to provide feedback regarding the service that was rendered to me on the 5th of August, 2026 by your comapny.
Firstly, I would like to commend the movers for how careful and organized they were. Moving apartment has always been stressful for me because of how many my properties are. I was especially nervous because of the antique mugs that I recently received from my grandmother after her passing. However, I should not have worried because the team was very careful with every item when moving them from one place to the other.
Also, I would particularly like to commend one of the female movers whose name I believe is Alice. She adviced me about safe places to store my mugs in the new property to prevent breakage. I was thinking of placing them near a window for display, but she adviced against me and she explained that it could easily fall if placed in that position.
Unfortunately, as much as the service was great, I was unhappy when I realised the next day that my daughter's toy bag was not moved. She was unhappy throughout the day. However, I am grateful because we received the bag the next day from your company after I complained.
I would definitely recommend your services to my friends and family.
Yours faithfully,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
The candidate has fully and effectively addressed all three bullet points required by the task prompt. In the second paragraph, the writer explains what went well on the day of the move by highlighting the careful and organized nature of the movers, specifically mentioning the successful handling of fragile antique mugs. In the third paragraph, a specific employee named Alice is praised for her helpful advice regarding safe storage locations. Finally, the fourth paragraph mentions the aspect of the service that was unsatisfactory—the missed toy bag—while also noting how the company promptly resolved the issue the next day. The tone is appropriately polite and formal for a letter to a company, and the purpose is sustained clearly throughout the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.5
The letter is logically sequenced, beginning with a clear opening statement of purpose and moving smoothly through each of the bulleted requirements before concluding with a final recommendation. Paragraphing is used effectively and appropriately, with each main point housed in its own distinct paragraph. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Also', and 'Unfortunately' are employed to guide the reader naturally through the text. Referencing is clear throughout, and the overall progression of ideas feels natural and coherent.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
The student demonstrates an adequate and generally appropriate range of vocabulary for a general correspondence task. Words and phrases such as 'provide feedback', 'commend', 'antique mugs', and 'recommend your services' are used accurately. There is an attempt to use less common vocabulary, though there are minor lexical and spelling slips, notably 'comapny' instead of 'company' and the repetitive use of 'adviced' (which should be the verb 'advised'). However, these minor inaccuracies do not impede communication, and the overall lexical adequacy aligns well with the band descriptor.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 7.0
The response features a good mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating control over sentence structures. Examples such as 'Moving apartment has always been stressful for me because of how many my properties are' and 'However, I should not have worried because the team was very careful...' show the ability to construct multi-clause sentences. Grammatical errors are relatively infrequent; the main issues involve slight awkwardness in phrasing ('how many my properties are' instead of 'how many possessions I have') and spelling/morphology confusion with the verb 'advised'. The majority of sentences are clear and error-free, ensuring the reader experiences no difficulty in understanding.
