Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Sir,
I am writing to provide about the removal service I recently used when moving to my new apartment.
Overall, I was very satisfied with the service provided by your company. The removal team arrived on time and worked efficiently throughout the day. they carefully packed and transported my furniture at the apartment. I was particularly impressed by how quickly they completed the move.
I would also like to praise one of your employees, Mr. Patel who was especially helpful. he was polite, professional and very patient when i asked him to handle some fragile items carefully. He also helped me arrange the furniture in the correct rooms, which made the moving process much easier.
However, there was one aspect of the service that I was not completely happy with. the company vehicle arrived about 30 mins later than the agreed time, which caused some inconvenience and made the beginning of move rather stressful.
Despite this the overall service was pretty excellent which was provided by your company. I would be happy to recommend your company tp others.
Yours faithfully,
Krupa Maisuria

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
The candidate has successfully covered all bullet points outlined in the task prompt. The letter clearly explains what went well on the day of the move, specifically noting that the removal team arrived on time and worked efficiently. Furthermore, an employee named Mr. Patel is appropriately praised for his polite, professional, and patient demeanor when handling fragile items. Finally, the response clearly mentions an aspect of the service that caused dissatisfaction, namely the vehicle arriving thirty minutes late and creating a stressful start. The tone is appropriately polite and formal enough for a general correspondence. The purpose of the letter is well-developed and sustained throughout the writing, fully satisfying the requirements for this band.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter is logically organised with a clear beginning, middle, and end. The writer uses standard letter-writing conventions, beginning with 'Dear Sir,' and ending with an appropriate sign-off. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate different ideas, such as the general satisfaction, the praise for the employee, and the complaint about the delayed vehicle. Cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'I would also like to', and 'However' are employed appropriately to guide the reader through the text and link paragraphs smoothly. Although referencing is occasionally simple, the overall progression of information flows naturally and logically throughout the response.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate to good range of vocabulary suitable for a general correspondence task. Phrases such as 'worked efficiently', 'fragile items', 'removal process', and 'caused some inconvenience' show a solid grasp of functional language. There are a few minor vocabulary and punctuation issues, such as missing capitalisation at the start of sentences ('they carefully packed', 'he was polite') and a minor typo ('provide about' instead of 'provide feedback about'). Despite these minor lexical inaccuracies, the vocabulary is more than sufficient to convey the intended message clearly and naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
The writer demonstrates a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures, incorporating relative clauses ('who was especially helpful', 'which made the moving process much easier') and conditional or temporal dependent clauses. Grammatical control is generally quite good, with many error-free sentences. However, there are a few punctuation and capitalization slips, such as lower-case letters at the beginning of sentences ('they carefully packed', 'he was polite', 'the company vehicle') and a missing comma in 'Despite this the overall service'. These errors are non-systematic and do not impede communication, placing the response firmly in the good range.
