Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to formally express my feedback reagarding the service provided by your company. Recently, I moved to my new apartment which is located in the city centre, near the railway station. Earlier, I was living in Pirna which is located in outskirt region of Dresden.
As I have several heavy piece of furniture and my other ammenties, I booked your service to assist me in the moving. I would like to say that the serviced provided were markedly adequate and fulfill my expectations. I would really appreciate the way, your employees handled all the stuff. They were very cautious due to some artificates were quite delicate. Fortunately, they transferred all the items without a single damage.
On the day of shifting, four people came to help us. Among those four, I am really impressed with Mr Petsch who led this task. When they arrive to my old apartment, firstly he informed all the basic informations, and the plan of execution. On the delivery site, he personally asked where they should put individual article. By the look at his attitude and approach, he seemed very passionate, calm and confident.
Although, overall experience was very good, there is some scope for improvement. It would be much easier if Mr Petsch and his team visited our apartment early. They would have better understanding how they will execute some of tricky and heavy furniture and we could save the time. I thought in couple of places we loose significant time. If you could able to work on this aspect, I can surely recommed your service to my friends and collleagues.
Thank you so much again for providing excellent service.
Yours sincerelly,
Vishal Vekariya

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
The response successfully covers all parts of the prompt, satisfying the requirements for general task writing. The writer clearly explains what went well on the move day, such as the careful handling of items and avoiding damage. Furthermore, the employee Mr Petsch is praised effectively for his clear communication and helpful leadership. Finally, an area of dissatisfaction is mentioned, specifically noting the team's late arrival and the resulting time loss. All bullet points are well covered, although the development of some points, such as the exact details of the timing issue, could be slightly more extended to reach the highest level. The tone is appropriately formal and polite throughout, maintaining a clear purpose from start to finish.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter exhibits a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Information is divided into logical paragraphs, with an introductory statement followed by body paragraphs addressing the specific bullet points, and a polite sign-off. Cohesive devices are used reasonably well, such as 'Although', 'Fortunately', and 'Among those four', ensuring smooth transitions between ideas. However, referencing is occasionally slightly mechanical or repetitive, such as the use of time markers, which prevents the cohesion from being entirely fluid. Overall, the layout and paragraphing are managed sufficiently and appropriately for this type of correspondence.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'formally express', 'outskirt region', and 'passionate, calm and confident'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'reagarding' instead of 'regarding', 'ammenties' instead of 'amenities', 'artificates' instead of 'artefacts', and 'recommed' instead of 'recommend'. Additionally, collocations like 'heavy piece of furniture' (instead of 'heavy pieces') and 'without a single damage' show occasional inaccuracies. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they restrict the lexical score by demonstrating inconsistent precision and control over less common items.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses ('which is located in the city centre') and conditional structures ('If you could able to work...'). There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as missing articles ('at delivery site' instead of 'at the delivery site'), incorrect verb forms ('If you could able to' instead of 'If you are able to' or 'If you could'), tense shifts, and unnecessary commas ('Although, overall experience...'). Despite these persistent errors, the grammar does not obscure the meaning, and the majority of simple sentences remain accurate, allowing the reader to follow the narrative without difficulty.
