Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to give you a feedback about your service of moving my belongings into my new apartment. The overall service was exceptional and all your employees were very helpful.
All my furniture was safely transfered from my previous house to the second floor of the new apartment. I was expecting that my dining table would not fit through the entrance door but your employees managed it. I was not able to pack smaller possessions into a box but your employees helped me pack boxes as well.
Raj was exceptionally helpful. I forgot my cat back at my old apartment. He drove back six miles to get my cat. He even fed my cat during the drive back.
I believe the number of people you sent to move my furniture were less. Instead of three if there were five people then it might have taken only a few hours rather than the whole day to transfer things.
Yours faithfully

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 8.0
The response covers all parts of the task very well and maintains an appropriate semi-formal letter tone from beginning to end. All three bullet points are clearly addressed and well-developed. You successfully explained what went well on the move, such as safely transferring furniture to the second floor and tackling the difficult dining table and packing assistance. You praised a specific employee, Raj, by describing a memorable and thoughtful action he took regarding your forgotten cat. Finally, you clearly mentioned the aspect of the service you were dissatisfied with, which was the insufficient number of staff sent for the job. The ideas are extended smoothly, resulting in a comprehensive and relevant response to the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter demonstrates a clear logical organization and progression throughout. Information is grouped sensibly into distinct paragraphs that serve individual functions: an opening statement of purpose, a paragraph detailing the positive aspects of the move, a paragraph praising the specific employee, and a final paragraph addressing the negative aspect of the service. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, and the transitions between ideas make the text easy to follow. Referencing is generally clear, though employing a slightly wider range of cohesive devices could add even more flow and flexibility to the overall structure.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate to sufficient range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items and descriptive phrases such as 'exceptional', 'possessions', and 'transfer'. There are, however, a few minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as writing 'give you a feedback' instead of 'give you feedback' (since feedback is uncountable) and spelling 'transfered' with a single 'r'. These minor errors do not impede communication, but eliminating them and incorporating more precise lexical chunks would help elevate your vocabulary control to the next level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 7.0
The writing shows a good mix of simple and complex sentence forms, featuring good control of grammar and punctuation overall. You successfully handle subordinate clauses and conditionals, such as 'I was expecting that my dining table would not fit...' and 'Instead of three if there were five people then it might have taken...'. However, a few persistent errors remain, such as subject-verb agreement with collective nouns or quantifying phrases ('the number of people you sent... were less' instead of 'was smaller') and minor preposition usage. Despite these occasional slips, the majority of your sentences remain accurate and communicate your meaning clearly to the reader.
