Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter to give my honest feedback about the service your company U-haul provided me while I was moving my furniture and other stuffs to my new apartment.
I am Shraddha Kapadia and last month on 30th September, 2026 I used a service of your company. Two people came to help me out with all packing and moving. They came in the morning at sharp 9:00am. Everything went well on that day. Even, they packed my all stuff in just 3 hours and they wrap up the whole thing including moving within 5 hours. Apart from this, they packed my temple very generously in the box that made me cheerful.
Furthermore, an employee whose name is Jack was extremely helpful. He took care of my kid while I was going outside to take one of the parcels from Amazon.
There is only one thing which I do not like about the service is that, they were in rush while they were emptying their truck. Althogh, I am satisfied with the overall service.
Thank you
Yours faithfully,
Shraddha Kapadia

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully covers all parts of the prompt, addressing the bullet points required for a general correspondence task. You explained what went well on the moving day, noting that the packing process was efficient and completed within a few hours. You also successfully praised an employee named Jack for his assistance with your child, and mentioned an aspect of the service you were unhappy with, specifically the rushed truck unloading. However, some of these ideas lean towards being slightly under-developed rather than fully extended, which is characteristic of this level. To reach a higher band, you would need to expand slightly on your explanations, providing more depth and elaboration regarding both the positive aspects and your dissatisfaction with the service.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement and follows an appropriate layout for formal correspondence, beginning with a standard salutation and ending with a formal sign-off. Paragraphing is used to separate different points, such as the general moving experience, the praise for Jack, and the negative aspect of the service. However, cohesion is occasionally mechanical or basic, relying on simple connectors like 'Furthermore' and 'Apart from this'. Referencing is generally clear, but the progression between sentences could be smoother to establish a more natural flow. Enhancing the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring seamless transitions between your ideas will help elevate this criterion to the next level.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
Your vocabulary choice is adequate for the task and allows you to communicate your message clearly, though it is somewhat limited. You attempt some less common vocabulary, such as 'generously' and 'satisfied', but there are instances of lexical inaccuracies and unnatural word choices. For example, using 'stuffs' instead of 'stuff' or 'belongings', and phrases like 'at sharp 9:00am' or 'in rush'. While these minor lexical errors and spelling mistakes do not impede communication, they reflect a restricted range of vocabulary. To achieve a higher score, you should incorporate a wider selection of precise vocabulary, stronger collocations, and idiomatic expressions suited to a formal or semi-formal complaint and feedback letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms throughout the letter, such as the use of subordinate clauses with 'while' and 'that'. There are some grammatical errors and awkward phrasing present, such as 'service of your company' and 'the thing which I do not like about the service is that, they were in rush', along with an unnecessary comma before 'they'. Another instance includes the concessive clause 'Althogh, I am satisfied', which contains a spelling error and punctuation issues. Nevertheless, these errors rarely impede communication and the meaning remains clear. A greater variety of error-free complex structures and tighter control over punctuation and prepositions would help you secure a higher grade in this area.
