Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response only partially addresses the prompt, leading to an underdeveloped treatment of the task requirements. While the writer attempts to cover all three bullet points—explaining what went well, praising an employee, and mentioning an unhappy aspect—the execution remains very limited and superficial. For instance, the bullet point requiring mention of an aspect of the service that you were not happy with is entirely missed, as the student only praises the company throughout the entire letter without providing a single negative point. Furthermore, the overall purpose and tone of a formal complaint or feedback letter are somewhat blurred by the entirely positive content, making the position unclear and leaving ideas inadequately developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation with paragraph breaks used to separate different thoughts, but there is no clear overall progression throughout the text. Cohesive devices are either inadequate, inaccurate, or overused, such as the repetitive use of comma splices to link independent clauses (e.g., 'i found your team supportive and polite with me, i found the moving comany...'). Referencing is also occasionally unclear due to pronoun confusion, such as 'when you are team reached'. To reach the next level, the writer needs to apply a wider range of accurate cohesive devices and ensure that ideas are sequenced with logical transitions rather than relying on weak run-on sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, containing frequent noticeable errors in spelling, word choice, and word formation that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Examples of lexical inaccuracies include 'asesst' instead of assisted, 'appartment', 'appereicate', 'exteamtly', 'moniter', 'deligince', 'suppertive', 'coopreative', 'specilist', 'huse hold', 'micro oven', and 'fidge'. The range of vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying heavily on simple descriptors like 'supportive' and 'polite'. To improve, the writer needs to expand their control of less common lexical items and pay closer attention to basic spelling and word formation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text displays a very limited range of structures, with frequent errors that can cause difficulty for the reader. The writer relies heavily on simple sentence forms, and attempts at more complex structures are consistently faulty, often resulting in severe punctuation errors like comma splices (e.g., 'they removed every thing very carefully and safely, moreover they team working together...'). There are also persistent issues with verb forms and tenses, such as 'when you are team reached' instead of your team reached, and 'they team working' instead of the team worked. Articles and subject-verb agreement are frequently mishandled. To progress, the writer must eliminate basic structural errors and demonstrate reliable control over simple and complex sentences alike.
