Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir or Madam

I am writing this letter to share my feedback for the excellent service I recieved from your packers and moveable company on 19th September,2026 as they helped me to transfer my in house equipments to my new flat comfortably.

The day I decided to shift to my new flat, an advertisement from your packers and movable company flashed on my screen. Initally when I booked it on 18th September, your company immediately excepted my request and alloted me the time between 9 am to 12 noon. However, they bought all the required material along with them. Not only this they packed the furniture and other expensive items with utmost care but also make a proper systematic arrangement to settle them up in the truck.

On the other hand, there was one boy with the employee Id 24865 who surprised me with his service. He was soft spoken not only with his staff but also with us as well. He was paitently handling all the task regardless of time.

The one service that made me little worried was the time given between 9 to 12 noon was not being fulfiled as they reached 1 hour late, which made the task little difficult. Nevertheless, allover the service provided was up to the mark and really helpful. will berecommending your compant to my friends, employees and family too.

Yours Sincerely,

Mona

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You successfully address all parts of the prompt, satisfying the requirements for this level. You clearly explain what went well on the day you moved house, such as the careful packing of your furniture and the systematic arrangement in the truck. Furthermore, you effectively praise a helpful employee by mentioning his specific employee ID and his soft-spoken, patient manner. Finally, you clearly identify the aspect of the service you were unhappy with, which was the removal team arriving one hour late. Your ideas are relevant, and the overall letter format and tone are appropriate for a formal complaint and feedback letter. To reach a higher level, you could extend and develop your points further with more detailed descriptions of the events rather than general statements.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

Your letter has a clear overall arrangement and logical progression, successfully bridging into the next band level through well-defined paragraphs that each address a different part of the prompt. You introduce the purpose of the letter in the opening paragraph, discuss the positive aspects and the helpful employee in the middle sections, and conclude with the negative aspect and your overall recommendation. However, your cohesion can sometimes feel slightly mechanical or repetitive in how you transition between ideas, such as using phrases like 'On the other hand' and 'The one service that made me little worried'. To achieve a fully higher band, you would need to use a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices that integrate your sentences and paragraphs even more smoothly and naturally.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task and attempt some less common items, such as 'systematic arrangement', 'soft-spoken', and 'upto the mark'. However, your response contains several noticeable lexical errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that reflect this band level. Examples include writing 'recieved' instead of 'received', 'moveable company' instead of 'removal company', 'excepted' instead of 'accepted', 'alloated' instead of 'allotted', 'paitently' instead of 'patiently', 'allovers' instead of 'overall', and 'compant' instead of 'company'. To improve, you need to expand your control of less common vocabulary and improve your proofreading to eliminate spelling and collocation errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms to convey your message, which is characteristic of this band. You demonstrate some successful complex structures, such as 'The day I decided to shift to my new flat, an advertisement... flashed on my screen.' However, your writing also contains frequent grammatical errors and punctuation slips, particularly with prepositions, articles, and verb tenses. Examples include 'feedback for the excellent service I recieved' instead of 'feedback on', 'in house equipments' where 'equipment' is uncountable, 'bought all the required material' where you likely meant 'brought', and 'was not being fulfiled as they reached' where tense consistency is affected. To reach a higher level, you must increase the proportion of error-free sentences and exercise better control over punctuation and grammatical agreements.
