Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response addresses the task only partially. While the writer manages to touch upon the three bullet points by mentioning what went well on the day of the move, praising the hardworking team, and noting an issue with the lack of proper uniforms, the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the mention of what went well is very brief and lacks specific details about the moving process, and the praise for the employee is generalized across the whole team rather than focusing on a specific individual as requested in the prompt. The overall tone is appropriate for a letter to a company, but the partial coverage and lack of fully explored ideas keep the response at a minimal level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation in the letter, with an attempt to separate ideas into distinct paragraphs, but there is no clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are used in a basic or repetitive manner, such as the frequent use of transition words like 'Furthermore', but referencing is not always clear, leading to a disjointed reading experience. The paragraphing structure is slightly erratic, separating single sentences or splitting thoughts awkwardly. To move to a higher band, the writer needs to ensure a smoother logical flow between ideas and use a wider, more accurate range of cohesive devices to connect sentences and paragraphs more naturally.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey the basic message. There are noticeable lexical errors, such as spelling mistakes ('houdehold', 'desination', 'chandigrah', 'particullary', 'employeer'), incorrect word forms ('movie' instead of 'move', 'gor' instead of 'for'), and odd collocations like 'share my experience... that I have noticed'. These errors require some effort from the reader to interpret the intended meaning. To improve in this area, the student should expand their working vocabulary, pay closer attention to word spelling and forms, and practice standard collocations used in everyday formal correspondence.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside a few attempts at complex forms that are often faulty. There are frequent errors in verb tenses, such as mixing past and present ('that I have noticed', 'I will stay there around two years'), as well as issues with prepositions, articles, and agreement ('all furniture', 'fast service without damaging any single item'). These frequent errors can cause some difficulty for the reader and obscure the precise meaning of the sentences. To achieve a higher band, the writer must demonstrate better control over basic sentence patterns, verb tense consistency, and accurate grammatical markers.
