Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter to provide a feedback about your service. What made me happy was the experience that I had by hiring your team for moving my furniture to look place.
Well, I had not faced any dissatisfaction from your team beacuse they were packing all the household items such as table, utensils and other furniture with good care. I was really impressed with skills of one of your employee, Sam who carefully handled all my expensive glasswares to new place.
However, one thing that made me disappointed is the extra transportation cost which was not disclosed on the phone conversation that I had with your company. I was really surprised with the total bill as your company charged me 60% for transporation expenses of the total amount. Honestly, If I were aware of that policy before, I might not use your service. So, it is my suggestion to completely disclose all the details to new clients before making any deal in future.
I hope you will take my feedback in a postive way.
Yours Faithfully,
Simran Kashyap.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response successfully covers all parts of the task prompt, positioning the letter appropriately as customer feedback. Simran clearly outlines the positive aspects of the moving day, praises a specific employee named Sam for handling delicate items, and details the negative aspect regarding the unexpected transportation costs. All bullet points are addressed, fulfilling the requirements for a Band 7 response. While the ideas are clear and relevant, some points, such as the initial praise regarding the overall service, lean toward generalization and could be slightly more extended to reach the highest bands. The tone is appropriate throughout, and the main message is conveyed effectively without any missing core elements.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter demonstrates a clear overall arrangement and logical progression that links the opening purpose to the positive feedback, the employee praise, and finally the complaint. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate each main point of the letter. Cohesive devices are present, such as 'However' and 'So', though some referencing and transitions feel slightly mechanical or basic, reflecting a half-band level that sits between clear organisation and more flexible cohesion. The flow from one idea to the next is generally smooth, but a wider variety of advanced cohesive links would be required to achieve a higher band.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, successfully communicating details about moving furniture, bills, and customer service. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary items and phrases, such as 'extra transportation cost' and 'disclosed on the phone'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as writing 'provide a feedback' instead of 'provide feedback', 'look place' instead of 'new place', and spelling errors like 'beacuse'. These lexical slips and minor inaccuracies do not impede communication, placing the vocabulary comfortably at the Band 6 level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
Simran demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure ('If I were aware of that policy before, I might not use your service'). There are some errors in grammar, articles, and prepositions, such as 'skills of one of your employee' instead of 'employees', and minor punctuation issues. However, these errors are relatively infrequent and rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to easily follow the meaning. The sentence structures show adequate variety, though a higher band would require a greater frequency of error-free complex sentences and stricter control over articles and pluralisation.
